Re: spectre x322bv-hd model x32 led backlights bad?
The panel looks exactly like the one I've got on a Coby 32" tv. All I remember is that it was made by LG. I've got it put back together now, so I can't read it. Maybe this helps?

Re: Coby TFTV3227 Takes Time to "Warm Up"?
Thought I'd wrap this one up. It was NOT the T-CON. Tried a replacement with no change.
After watching the behavior a little while I began to think it behaved a lot like a video card with cold solder joints on the processor. I had repaired a Macbook Pro with this problem a few years ago, so I decided to give it a go.
I had to remove the heat sink from the processor first. Then I flooded the processor from the edges with low viscosity no clean flux until it ran out from underneath. I wrapped the...

Re: Multi colours on Samsung LE40M86BDX.
I just did this swap yesterday. I'll post a guide. In short, if you don't have a hot air station (like I don't), I recommend a rework product called Chipquik. It's an alloy you reflow over the part you want to remove like solder. It mixes with the solder already on the part and lowers it's melting temperature enabling you to keep all the traces melted at once and pull the part easily.

Re: Multi colours on Samsung LE40M86BDX.
Why do the better manufactures use these chips. It seems they have a terrible failure rate. I just replaced one in a 46" Samsung. Picture is till inferior to my 2007 model.

Re: Samsung LCD repair questions
This sounds like cold solder joints on the CFL transformers. Given the age of the tv, it makes sense. I'm not familiar with this model, but they are probably on the power board.

Re: Samsung LCD TV LN40B530P7N Distorted Color Picture
Correct. The AS15F(G) chip is on the t-con board. It's usually under a metal shield at the top center of the set. There are usually semi-adhesive heat pads that will make it stick to both the metal shield and the back of the LCD itself. Use care when removing it....

Re: Samsung LN46A630M1F Gamma chip repair question
Remote suddenly started working again. It was strange, the red led receiver light didn't even flash when it wasn't working. Tried two different remotes. Front panel buttons worked fine although it looked like it was trying to scroll through the channels really fast at one point. Perhaps I have a stuck input.
Tried a factory reset. Still looks...well kinda weird. I appreciate all your help....

Re: Samsung LN46A630M1F Gamma chip repair question
Here are the voltages. Something else is going on as it suddenly stopped responding to the remote other than to turn it on.
VGAMA1 15.34V
VGAMA2 13.17V
VGAMA3 11.11V
VGAMA4 10.34V
VGAMA5 9.98V
VGAMA6 8.10V
VGAMA7 7.10V
VGAMA8 5.15V
VGAMA9 4.74V
VGAMA10 3.90V
VGAMA11 2.25V
VGAMA12 .38V

Re: Samsung LN46A630M1F Gamma chip repair question
Thanks Tom. I'm an idiot. I saw the list of test points before, but they're not near any actual pads. I figured it out today. I must have been tired from all that soldering last night. Anyway, the voltages ascend as they should, but the picture still seems a bit off to me, as if it's not full resolution.

Re: Samsung LN46A630M1F Gamma chip repair question
Thanks for the reply Tom. I've been through all the options in the menu and it still looks ...well...odd to me. I wish the dang thing had test points! I guess I can try and replace the Gamma chip with a new one again (what a pain) and see what happens.

Samsung LN46A630M1F Gamma chip repair question
Hey everybody!
Working on an LN46A630M1F which had an obvious gamma chip issue. I changed out the AS15F chip with a used spare I had and the picture looks...ok now. The picture has an odd look compared to most Samsungs I've seen. Almost like it's not running full resolution. I even tried hooking up a bluray player to it so make sure it wasn't the tv signal, but it still looks strange. It's hard to describe and I can't really capture it on film. Objects seem to be like overlapping cardboard cut outs. I'm thinking the chip I used either wasn't good, or that I have a solder bridge...

Re: I don't like it when they work
Yep. Hate that. I've had the same thing happen when repairing arcade games. Guy gets it home and it doesn't work.
I saw that ad and talked to that guy. Nice guy. When he said the TV were used in a traveling arcade truck, and that he'd used up his warranty service on them, I decided it was over my head. Maybe the problem was just vibration related and it will be fine as a stationary tv?

Re: Samsung PS 42C450 Tuner Low-Gain.
Last time I had low gain in a Samsung it was old caps in the power supply dirtying up the DC. You might try testing them.

Post pic of the cap in question! I've also had a failing FRC board exhibit similar symptoms.

Rubycon YXF or ZLJ Capacitors for Power supplies?
Time for me to restock on capacitors. I had a stock of Rubycon YXF capacitors that I've been using to revive LCD tvs, but I've run out. Anyone have any opinions as to whether the ZLJ versions would be better or worse for this application?
