    Vizio vs42L fhdtv10a - moving flicker

    Hello everyone,

So I have a 2008 Vizio vs42l fhdtv10a plasma tv. I got it from a friend and I am trying to get it fixed up. So the problem: the screen flickers but the flicker also moves from the right side to the left. The screen darkens a little after the flicker happens but if I bang on the tv a little the problem goes away and sometimes gets worse. I removed the back cover and checked the connections on the back and it all seems okay.

Here is a video link of the problem: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yvz4b5rd62uhhwa/VIDEO0010.mp4

So what do you all think is the problem?

    Thanks for the help!

Looks to me like a bad LCD panel - tab bond fault.

Thanks a lot tom66! I'll try to do a similar fix. Could it be anything else? Thanks!

Unlikely. The fault characteristic is very similar to a bad panel due to tab bond failure. It can be fixed in a permanent manner in about 90% of cases.

How do I go about fixing it permanently? Will the fix in the video be my best option? Thanks for the quick reply!

Samsung flicker - BN44-00932T board or else?
            by fixit007
I picked up this TV that the prior owner said - just died.

Tested the fuse - burnt. A dead capacitor is visible too on the hot side (CP801). Got the replacement power board (cheaply - used). Replaced the board - the TV turned ON!

Now, about a month later (yesterday) I noticed the left side of the screen was flickering from time to time. That was already happening with the antenna input, not through HDMI.

Also, some glitchiness with a Fire stick on HDMI3 - I hit an app with quick dark screen in stick, the TV goes - no input. Then I had to choose the stick...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
            by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

            Assuming...

            Hi.

picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED...

            Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

            Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...
