    Samsung PN51D430A3DXZA Sound but no picture

    20 month old plasma with no picture. I've read several posts on here and learned a good deal so far, but need help with the next step.

    I took the back off, but don't see any swollen or leaking caps. I measured VS and VA, and initially get VS=~205 and VA=~50 before both gradually decrease, maybe 10 volts per second.

    I replaced the Y-Main board with ebay find, but same status. I unplugged every board leading to the power supply except main board and input board, since they appear to be required for power supply operation. VS and VA still fall the same way.

    I guess I'm ready to buy a Power Supply, but wanted to check before I shotgunned again.

    Picture attached. Y-Main is on the left side of your picture. Power Supply in the middle.

                  and if it produces these test patterns, does that indicate I need a controller board?

                      It indicates a bad main board. The main board is the one with HDMI etc on it. Not the board you do the jumper on.

                          When the tv stopped working, I swapped it out for a Panasonic plasma. Then I could not get the DirecTV to complete it's initiation. It would get to "completed steps 1 of 2..." and that screen would go blank. I called DirecTV and they came out and diagnosed a bad HDMI cable.

                          So, could a bad main board destroy a cable?

                          I'll do the test this eve and post results.

                              A bad main board can't damage a cable, but it's possible that if there was a power surge, the directTV box and the TV were both damaged or wounded in some way. HDMI appears to be a particularly popular way for surges to propagate, and often results in fairly catastrophic damage.

                                  shorting pins 3 & 4 fails. No test pattern, no changes whatsoever.

                                  Another possible tip. When I plug it in, I get one click followed by a "bizzip" sound, possibly from the power supply area. I can't quite pinpoint the location.

                                              That's probably OK then.
                                              Look at the LED indicator on the control board. Does it light up? If so, does it light up for 5 seconds then pause for 2, or does it flash about once a second?

                                                          OK, this indicates an X-main or Y-main fault. 5-2 blink error. I'd suggest you replace both boards as they are currently reasonably cheap.

                                                              Cool. Progress. I just replaced the Y-main. Do you recommend another Y-main at the same time as the X-main? Or can I likely just buy an X-main?

When the TV Is plugged in the screen looks like its trying to turn on with a brief light then its black. The light blinks 5 times then turns off. I did replace X-main with no results. Is this a Y-main or Y-buffer problem ? or even the control board

                                                                                  I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

                                                                                  Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

                                                                                  I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

                                                                                  The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

                                                                                  With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                                                                  Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
                                                                                  - sound and backlight, but no picture
                                                                                  - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
                                                                                  - it keeps rebooting
                                                                                  - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
                                                                                  - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
                                                                                  - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

                                                                                  I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

                                                                                  Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
                                                                                  The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
                                                                                  He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
                                                                                  I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
                                                                                  Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged...

                                                                                  Hi all

                                                                                  I was just given a Samsung TV with the issue. I read various threads and videos and attempted the ribbon tape method to gain an image, but no luck.



                                                                                  Symptom:
                                                                                  No picture no sound.
                                                                                  When I plug in the power cord, Backlight LED turns on for a half second and then turns off. The red LED next to the power button located center bottom flashes 2 or 3 times. When the power button is pressed after, it does the same thing.
                                                                                  No sound at all.



                                                                                  What I tried:
                                                                                  1. I tried unplugging the left or right ribbon...
