    samsung UN46c5000QF

    Hello all...
    Was hoping the excellent experts here could help me diagnose this TV.
    When plugged into the wall outlet,the red standby light is on.When a attempt is being made to turn the TV on via remote or on TV itself,the red light disappears for a split sec and comes back on and stays on solid.No clicking sound from TV.Every so often the red light goes off,then on,then back off and to stay on after that at a turn on attempt.
    So far I have removed the cover and measured all the fuses on the power board,they are all ok,I don't see any "bulging/leaking" caps....
    When I remove both plugs from the powerboard,the standby light doesn't even come on.
    Would be very interested in suggestions what to try next
    I have a digital meter and some basic knowledge of electronics(many many yrs ago when boards where simple)...

    Near the power connector which goes to the main board (from the power board) there should be a label, indicating what pin does what, what does this label show?

      Thank you for the fast reply
      I took 2 pic's,one from the label next to the mainboard plug and one from the other plug that has 4 wires coming out(no clue what's it for lol)
      Hope this answers what you are asking,forgive me if it's not....

        just seen BOTH pictures are up side down,call me a noob lol...I suggest turning your monitor around to avoid a stiff neck

          Please check pin 18, PS ON, before pressing power button and then after pressing it.
          Using multimeter, red probe on PS ON, black probe on chassis ground of TV, 20V DC range.

            Will do !!!! Do I do this with plug to mainboard plugged in or un plugged?

              looking at the plug,at the label side it shows 17 18....assuming that pin 17 is the one that has a bare metal pin coming out of the back of the connector going to the board and pin 18 being right below it(closest to the board)
              pin 17 shows 0 volts,then when striking the power on thing,it goes to 12 volts for about a second,then back to zero.
              pin 18 I couldn't reach,so I stripped the plug wire a bit and measured there..It's 0 volts and when striking the power on it goes to 0.79 volts for about a second,then back to zero....
              This I measured with the plug plugged in going to the main board...

                18 is on the lower row. It looks like the main board is sending the signal and the power supply is turning on, but there's a fault with the main board as it is turning off.

                In the fast track guide, try the "backlight on" hint.

                      Ah..!! Thank you for the link...
                      I unplugged CN201 as described and the back light does not come on..
                      There is no "spy hole" in the back of the TV it seems,but if I look at the screen it stays completely dead...

                        What do you measure on pin 4 and pin 2 before and after pressing the button?

                          sry for the late responds,family stuff to be done...lol
                          But here it is...
                          pin 4: 0 volts on standby, 0.03v for halve sec when pressing the button.
                          pin 2: 0 volts on standby, 3.65v for halve a sec when pressed the button...

                            It looks like the main board is never turning the backlight on. Double check those readings, but if those are correct, the main board is likely the fault.

                            See here to try an EEPROM reset before ordering a new board.

                              Trying to locate the eeprom on my board with little success but will keep looking...might have to get magnifying glass as I must be getting older or parts are getting smaller,lol

                              Question about the backlight tho: Earlier I tried your suggestion on doing the backlight test thing,unplug cn201,plug tv in...That "forces" power supply to turn on backlight according to the chart... but it never turned on..!!!
                              Shouldn't that have turned on?? As the mainboard was not even involved in that test??

                                Hmm. What is the BN44 number of your power board? Service manual lists it as BN44-00357A, but it's got a mistake in the pin connector so I'm not sure if I can trust it.

                                      There should be a print with "BN44-12345A" on it (as an example) can you see any part with BN44- written on it.
