    42"Samsung Plasma problems.

    model#PL-P42W-10A
I picked this tv up for free trying to fix it when I plug it in I get two red blinks by the power button, and the green led in the back blinks like it is trying to start up over and over. I have narrowed it down to the xmain I have a couple solder jounts that look iffy. I am thinking it is not shorted because the Y main is ok.I will get som picture on here to. any help would be great.

Disconnect your X-main and see if the TV powers up. If it does, DON'T RECONNECT YOUR X-MAIN. I'd then check the transistors on the X-main's heat sink and fix any bad joints with the board removed from the TV. Once your X-main checks out good, re-install it and power on the TV. It should work.

Post clear pics of the X-main if you're unsure of the solder joints.

It does and I have the x main out now. here are the pictures of it. The third picture is the one with bad solder joint I think, should there be continuity between the two post's? There is none on those two.

It's hard to tell from the pic. I'd just go ahead and re-solder it and anything else that looks questionable.

This one might be more clear.

Yeah I am going to try it the one post has a hole in the solder. I have high hopes that's what it is .

I can't see anything wrong in that pic, either. Once you fix up your joints, I'd move on to testing the heat sink components. You may have to de-solder them individually if your readings aren't definitive.

Well i put in a new x sus and buffer now it powers up. Now there is a buzzing coming from the back. Does this mean the panel is bad? I pulled the panel out and can not find any cracks.

Powers up with picture or no picture?

A faint buzz is normal, but a loud buzzing which does not sound stable (pitch changing, and like electrical arcing) is a common sign that the panel is cracked. Check carefully around the edge for cracks/chips/marks.

Faint = not audible from 6ft
Loud = audible beyond 10ft (would interfere with ordinary TV sound)
