Panasonic TCP42S2 horizontal line

Last week a thin red horizontal line appeared on the lower part of the screen. Its there even with no input devices on. The set is 2 1/2 years old.

Any ideas?

I'm going to say bad Y-buffer board or on this SU/SD or possibly SN board.

That's very digital and in blocks in appearance.

If me, first thing I'd try if you have a copy of the service manual is the vertical flip in the service menu and see if those coloured blocks go to the top of the screen.

Thanks Tom and tw2005. I tried a new buffer which didn't help. The line moved with the picture in the mirror test so it looks like I need an A-board. I'll start looking.

Yeah for me it was a symmetrical pattern as opposed to a continous line. If your into experimenting I wonder if it's being generated or possibly a faulty A board buffer ICs ?

Maybe you have some scrap boards with the same part fitted, they're not too hard to work with size wise.
