Re: LG 42PC1DA distorted pinkish when turned on
This is a plasma display. It does not use a lamp! The differences between a plasma and LCD are described here, along with the general theory of operation.

Yep. You only need to check one of the VS points, they are the same.Leave a comment:

Re: LG 42PC1DA distorted pinkish when turned on
Connect the cable (but NOT when the TV is on - wait a few minutes if it has been recently switched on) then stick your probe in the exposed metal around where the wire goes into the connector crimp. Ground (black lead) in same place as before. Expecting around 185V.Leave a comment:

Re: LG 42PC1DA distorted pinkish when turned on
OK, right now I am thinking the Z-sus should be replaced.
One thing to check: On the Z-sus, there is a power connector which brings the voltages Vs, Va. Can you see it? Can you measure what you see on those pins?Leave a comment:

Re: LG 42PC1DA distorted pinkish when turned on
So tried it again with the meter away from the tv...
First I got a steady reading for a good 20-30 seconds.. I figured the I had gotten interference before. But, then I took the probes off and back on and was getting the erratic readings once again. It goes up wildly... 155, 220, 300, then back down and steady...
So at this point I'm a little unsure.
By the way, I had my phone in my pocket and now its dead... coincidence?Leave a comment:

Re: LG 42PC1DA distorted pinkish when turned on
That is definitely bad though I was expecting it to drop out while the set was running not increase. Can you make sure your meter is away from the display while operating (just in case the interference created is too much.)Leave a comment:

Re: LG 42PC1DA distorted pinkish when turned on
ok retested during the fault. the voltage is not stable.. it stays at 99, then every few seconds jumps randomly 122, 130, 219, then back to 99 for a few seconds, then it repeats.Leave a comment:

Re: LG 42PC1DA distorted pinkish when turned on
my apologies, I see you had mentioned... screen up with fault visible...
let me test again.Leave a comment:

Re: LG 42PC1DA distorted pinkish when turned on
but I did not connect to the cable box and wait for the distortion to come up... all I did was power up...Leave a comment:

Yes, screen lit up with fault symptom visible.
Be careful not to slip with the probes!Leave a comment:

by maleksaMy Yamaha MOX8 synthesizer recently developed two issues.
Firstly, after booting up, it operates as normal. However, after about 5 minutes, the sound starts to get distorted (broken up screeching sound) almost like putting it through a guitar distortion pedal. After a while, the distorted sounds will go away for a while and comes back. At times, the synthesizer will also freeze I need to power off and on again.
Secondly, when powering off and on again, there will be times where the synthesizer will freeze during the boot sequence (freezes at the MOX8 Opening Screen),...-

My laptop HP 245 AMD 14-FP5-6L -GDDR5X2 has a battery charging circuit error:
- If not power on, battery charge ok.
- if i turn on the power, not charging the battery ( the battery charging indicator light, from yellow to white)
The laptop only charges when not turned on. I have changed the battery and charger, but the situation remains unchanged.
I replaced the BQ 25A charging IC but the device only charges when not turned on.

by tuner2000ihello everyone,
I don't normally do tv repairs but this is a case with my personal TV which got fried together with many other electronics in my house after a thunderstorm.
The TV is a Philips 65PUS8518/12 which had no power. I measured and concluded that the main board was probably fried through ethernet or hdmi. I found a board with same number 715GD328-M0F-B00-005Y (I had G) but from a 55PUS8518. The TV starts but the image is doubled, distorted. I need to set the panel code which is 016 according to the sticker on the back but I can not seem to do it.

by bykanovmLenovo Thinkpad W541 Wistron LKM-1 WS MB 12291-2 Works from the network and charges the battery only when it is turned off.
If you press the power button, the laptop turns on and works from the battery, but does not take power from the power supply.
If you boot into Windows and close the lid while working, thereby putting the laptop into sleep mode, the laptop begins to charge the battery.
even checked it this way: I bring a neodymium magnet to the Hall sensor during operation - the screen goes out and the battery starts charging.

by LEECH666Good day ladies and gentleman!
I am currently trying to repair a Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB LCD TV for a friend that has a weird audio problem. Basically everything works fine except for the heavily distorted sound when the Subwoofer module is connected and there is a buzzing sound coming from the PSU PCB.
This seems to be a rather rare TV so there is not much prior on topic help to be found however a service manual is available at the usual sources (Electro Tanya i.e.).
I think the PSU buzzing comes from one of the coils near the bridge rectifier but... - Loading...
