I thought a buck converter was like 90-95 % efficient . Where is all that heat coming from? Could it be a bad winding in the housing of the inductor ? the other buck converter run about 50 deg. cooler .Comment

Around 85% is possible, 90% is really good, 95% not really possible except with very good converters.
If the processor draws around 10W which is typical with modern video processors then you'd be losing around 1.5W which produces a fair bit of heat in the inductor and MOSFET, especially with no heatsink.
Have you tried freeze-spraying parts to make it go wrong quicker (or see if that makes it work?) Or hairdryer to heat stuff up?Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

I used a hair dryer last night and it trips at about 200 deg. and the power goes off. sprayed freeze spray on it and it started up by it selfComment

I know it was 200 because I used my laser thermometer to check.
The volts were .0 on both sides in standby mode.Comment

I have one same rating from from a different make board. The set is running well with my little fan running. Think I'll leave the fan in when I find the problem. So many of these lcd samsungs are having the same issues. The strange thing my relay never did the clicking thing, even before I changed the caps.

Tomorrow its going to be 95 deg. turn off a.c. and run it with the cover on so it can build up heat in the cabinet. If it doesn't turn off I am going to leave my little fan in and running. If it turns off I will be back. Thank You for the support on my little project.Comment

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't

I hope this is the right forum to post in despite not technically being a repair, but still a question of swapping boards.
I thought I'd explore the possibility to upgrade an existing working Samsung ue55nu7096u with the logic board (and power board if needed) of a newer model (ue55ru7105k) of the same size and appearance (and resolution). The reason being I'd like the extra inputs of that board including component in, an extra HDMI port and bluetooth. Its panel is broken so I have no use for the board otherwise.
