Yeah, they're especially difficult on these panels because of how the buffer boards are upside down.

Agreed. Have to completely screw down the boards each time to test. I thought it was a stupid design. Coming from an engineer's standpoint it made no sense to me at all.

Anyway, it was nice to see the set come on. That was only my 2nd plasma repair so it felt like a victory.

I'd imagine that in the production facility they'd probably use a jig to install it because I can't imagine anyone being able to do that manually at any particular speed.

With the total amount of cables on the back of that particular set, I don't know how it could be done very quickly regardless. I'd like to know the time per set for sure.

There are some videos of plasma TV factories like How it's Made on the ex-Hitachi factory in Japan but I haven't yet seen one with buffer connections being installed, probably it's partially a trade secret as that would be one of the more laborious tasks and more expensive.

I'm going to look up the How It's Made episode. I'd love to see that regardless.

                    Re: Vizio P50HDTV10A

I unfortunately have another update on this. TV worked for a couple days but is now showing black screen after 20 minutes of being on. Can be left off for 10 minutes at which point it will run for about another 20. Again this thing is 200 miles from me so it'll have to wait til next trip. Any clues on what may be wrong? Bad connection maybe or bad replacement buffer?

                    Thanks as always,

                    Aaron

Well, I called them back to tell them to quit using it for now but it was too late. Back to the yellow line down the middle. Seems like maybe something else caused the buffer board to fail. I'll probably have the TV at some point to look in to it further.

They may be unrelated problems. Buffer boards very rarely fail intermittently. It's plausible the control board had a problem, which may have damaged the buffer board. Usually with the solid line it's only one or two FETs though so it's not super difficult to fix.

Well whatever the case the replacement buffer board was $40 and now it's dead too. Hate to dump much more money in to a set that old. Was already trying to do a favor for a friend fixing it. Maybe I'll dive back in to it once I can get it to my house.

To you programmers out there I want to know if it is possible to put a new OS on the Sonim XP5s phone? I only need this phone to make calls, receive calls, have a list of contacts and be able to call voice mail.
I bought this phone new Sep.2021 as an unlock phone from a third-party seller. The phone worked fine until Jan 2022. I then had intermittent problems with the sound setting resetting itself. One of the settings, outdoor, would go to silent all by itself. When in silent mode it does not indicate a call has come in. I missed very important phone calls. All the other setting in sound...

                            by mikey5791
                            Hi all,
Got this smart phone free from a guy who dropped it hard until the lcd display cracked with no seen display.
Opened it and found the display ribbon cable partly damaged. I charged the phone full in 2 hours time, the led red light turns to green indicate full charge.
Then i use a usb cable connect the phone to laptop but it only showed as media player with firmware version. Too bad there is no option to check folder.

Does anyone know any method to check if the phone is working good? Looking forward for any advice and help possible.

Vizio E70-E3 Two white vertical lines
                            by brad2157
I picked up a Vizio E70-E3 for free that shows Vizio logo and then goes to a black screen. Original owner said he started having wifi issues and then he tried to reset the TV and that's when it wouldn't boot up any longer after his reset attempt. I picked up a replacement main board from eBay that matches the same model # board as the original from the TV.

Original main board - Shows Vizio logo when TV powers on, then goes to black screen. Doesn't boot up. No screen issues with any lines on start up Vizio logo.

Replacement main board - Boots up fine, but starting...

                            Vizio d650i-c3 freezing
                            by EazyBone
This Vizio doesn't freeze at startup. Not that problem

This Vizio will go into an app like YouTube and work and a very bad picture rate and freeze on videos pretty quickly. But will freeze up in all the apps. Plug a Roku stick into it and it works flawless without video buffers etc. Is there a solution to this freezing issue with Vizio's? It's at latest firmware. I figured they just suck, but factory reset and firmware didn't fix.
