lg Plasma model 42pc3d picture problem

lg 42pc3d plasma, when the background has not much white color, the picture is normal as photo 1, but when the picture has more white color, the screen is flashing/flickering, picture is distored as photo 2 shows.
Not sure if this is the power supply or y board issues. If power supply, does it mean white screen needs more energy but power board can't supply? or y board is bad in some level?

I am having the same problem with my Zenith (LG) Z60PV220. The picture just started doing the same thing yesterday. Need help solving the issue. I have some skills, but am far from an expert.

      (1) Check your output voltages from the PSU to the sustains, namely VS and VA.
      (2) Check VSC and -Vy on the Y-Sustain.
      (3) Check Vzb on the Z-Sustain.

Most likely, you have a bad Y-Sustain. The IPM under the large heat sink may be faulty. Let me know if you need help taking voltage measurements.

Thank u for the reply on this. Got a video to test the VS and VA, seems simple enough with everything labeled. I cannot get to this until this Sunday due to work, but plan on doing it then. The picture seems to progressively get worse day by day. If this is the y-sustain, could it cause more damage if left untouched for awhile?

Sustain failures in this LG plasma are normally self-contained.

Problem with LG Plasma 60PM6700 - Random power downs
            by theone111
I have an LG Plasma TV 60PM6700 for the past ~12 years.

In the last ~3-4 months I have been having some issues.
            1. Problem: It started with random picture disappearing (sound still worked).
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait a few seconds before turning it on again.
            2. Problem: Then it got worse and the TV started to shut down and when turning on the no picture just sound.
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait about 10-20 seconds and turn it on again to solve.
            3. Problem: TV shuts down

Panasonic ZT60 plasma tv with strange behavior and 8 blink code
            by cloo
I recently got my hands on a 60" Panasonic P60ZT60 plasma tv (european model) that has some strange issues along with an 8 blink code.
It know this tv is getting old but it was once considered one of the best plasmas ever made, and i think it is still holds on to that even by todays standards.

So, long story short. When i first got the tv it had a very bright washed out picture with very raised blacks in all picture modes and i couldn't find the cause in the picture setting menus.
After doing a factory reset this problem was gone and the picture was back to...

Maldischarge-link that fixes it with replacing caps
            by r-p
Starting this thread because Capkid doesn't seem to be reprogramming controlboards anymore (LG 60PZ950 with red maldischarge) and my game-plasma also has maldischarge (Hitachi 42PD3200). So I will grasp at straws to keep them running. I am extremely bad at throwing stuff away.

Is there any merit to this link?

Very short version: Specific caps seem to loose their capacitance and/or increase their ESR. This may cause the maldischarge. Replace them with better/bigger/newer ones and problem solved.

From the limited knowledge I have on the subject, I think...

Trying to Save - LG 60PH6700 60-inch plasma HDTV - Powers ON but no picture
            by KYBOSH
Saved this beast from the landfill this weekend.
            Manfactured July 2013 in Mexico.

I love working on plasma TVs.
Its been a while but I was lucky enough to find 2 this week.

The TV powers on and stays on but no picture. Havent checked for sound yet.
No bulging caps although the insides are pretty dusty and the boards are discolored from many years of high heat.
            Will start troubleshooting tonight.

AOC AGON AG273QCG refresh problem picture shifts
            by doorzon
            Hi all,

hopefully someone on this board has an idea on how to begin with troubleshooting this problem.

The monitor AOC AGON AG273QCG (curved 27" QHD monitor) has problems refreshing every 1 to 2 seconds or so. A line appears in the middle of the screen and the lower half of the screen is shifted to the right.

            See attached picture.

I am leaning towards an issue with bad soldering of the graphics chip, because the problem used to go away after some time (minutes) but now it is here to stay.
However, this could also be related...
