    LG 42PC1DA Blink Codes

    Hi everyone,

I am working on a LG 42PC1DA plasma tv. Right now when i plug it in i get 3 green blinks then the forth blink starts green for a split second the goes to red. I don't know what the blink codes are for LG and can't find them anywhere. Does anybody know what they are? I took the back off and on the power supply there are two caps that looked slightly bulged but i don't know if it's enough to cause this.

    Thanks

There aren't any. Blinking any number of times then powering off is just a general power failure.
    The capacitors appear OK.

I'll guess, shorted Ysus board (ic)

I unplugged the y sus and the tv will power up and has sound. At this point i am guessing a short on the y sus board. Are these fixable or do you just order a new one? What commonly fails on them? Is it a bad mosfet or something that can be replaced?

They are fixable -- the large module, the IPM, under the heatsink usually fails. You can replace the board or the IPM ($20 ~ $40), but replacing the IPM is very difficult. I think there's someone on eBay doing replacement IPM jobs for around $100.

Make sure you can remove the IPM without causing damage. If you can, then soldering the new one on is easy.

As a minimum, it is recommended to use a 60W temperature controlled iron. 100W is better. A desoldering iron+compressed air pump all in one is an excellent tool if available.
