    Well bought a non working alba 42 inch tv that had signs of a bad psu, TV wouldn't start up, stuck in standby.

    Opened the tv up and indeed the PSU was bad.. Another vestel! Replaced 2 caps and a diode and voila the psu was up and running again...

    Problem... Once the tv started there were horizontal lines flickering and 2 solid 1px lines vertically... Well instantly knew that's a bad LCD panel.... Stripped the tv and inspected Tcon connections then across the ribbon cables for the LCD... after prodding 2 of the ribbons the lines flickered and changed... No chance of repair to the cables so I have a dead LCD.

    Now my question, how can I find what other TV sets use this same LCD panel? I cannot find a part number for the panel anywhere and will be a lot easier to find a replacement panel from a doner set if there are other makes I can use with it.

      Check the model # of panel - e.g. SAMSUNG LTA4088ABCDEF - and use that for replacement, but is it really worth it for a bargain basement Vestel?

          Depends how cheap I get the donar for... Only paid 5 quid for the TV

              Personally I'd sell the TV with the defect. Should be able to get £100 or so like that.

                  After switching it on again one entire column has gone... So that ribbon has completely given out.

                  Don't think I'd stand a chance of getting rid of it for £100

                      Is it on edge of screen or in middle? Who made LCD panel in this set? Samsung, AUO, LG Display, Chi Mei, Chungwha...?

                          its the second column off the right hand driver board.... so about 4 inches in.

                          Cant find any identification marks on the panel

                              Can you post a picture of any stickers on the back of the panel? Just so we can track which panels are failing early. I've had a similar thing happen to me with a Samsung 32" LCD.

                                  The Panel is an LG LD420WUN-SBA1

                                  Could someone try finding what other sets use this panel please?
                                  I can't seem to find any info.

                                      I'm working on a Samsung UE70TU7020K.

                                      It looks like a bad panel. There is only 1 FPC cable from the Tcon (built into mainboard) to the panel.

                                      I'm using a piece of tap a few mils (covers about 8-10 pins), at different locations and have had varying results but nothing that is remotely watchable (multiple lines across all the screen, half screen and total black out on screen). The buffer board is divided into 3 boards. I've disconnected the end board one at a time but each time the screen was totally black. I presume it's because the potential...

                                      Samsung 55" UN55JS9000 - Pink vertical lines due to chipped LCD panel?

                                      Hello all, I was recently repairing my Samsung 55" UN55JS9000 tv from the common burnt backlight LED's and cracked light guide panel issue. After replacing the LED's and putting the TV back together, I tested the tv and all I was getting was sound but no image. Somewhere along the way (could be related to the next issue) the T-Con board became damaged and after replacing it I have made a little bit of progress but now have bright pink vertical lines and still no image.

                                      The bigger issue .... I took the TV apart again and realized that I likely didn't sit the LCD panel correctly...

                                      Xiaomi L55M5-5ASP fine lines on the panel uniform

                                      Good afternoon! Does anyone know how to remove these lines? They are very fine lines at the bottom of the panel. I have 2 identical panels, and I have even thought that this brand has this lattice format, although I highly doubt it.

                                      The photo from the YouTube app is where it is best seen.

                                      I recently got my hands on a 60" Panasonic P60ZT60 plasma tv (european model) that has some strange issues along with an 8 blink code.
                                      It know this tv is getting old but it was once considered one of the best plasmas ever made, and i think it is still holds on to that even by todays standards.


                                      So, long story short. When i first got the tv it had a very bright washed out picture with very raised blacks in all picture modes and i couldn't find the cause in the picture setting menus.
                                      After doing a factory reset this problem was gone and the picture was back to...

                                      49UJ6500 LCD panel has a lighter band on top when first powered on. Goes away (or gets much fainter) after TV on for a few min. After powered off for awhile and power back on, same band appears. If powered on immediately after powering off, no or much fainter band. Running the latest firmware.

                                      Disassembled the TV and lifted the LCD panel during testing. Band is on the LCD panel (can see the band on the panel as I lift it slightly) Backlight is perfectly even at the top edge. Double checked LCD panel alignment in the frame and is perfect but since band moved with the panel, its on...
