    Thanks!

BTW, I noticed some of the caps are higher voltage than others, and on my board they're all the same. Where do the higher voltages go?

They can use different capacitors at different points of time during the manufacturing lifespan of a TV. Could be that a 470uF 25V capacitor from manufacturer A was cheaper than a 470uF 16V capacitor from manufacturer B. Typically they have a set list of acceptable substitutes and build it using the cheapest parts, usually using something like "MRP" software (manufacturing/resource planning.)

Also be sure to check the cap on the ballast. A couple of the models have issues with that cap going bad if caps on the power supply went bad.

          Re: Samsung TV Whoas

First off I want to thank everyone for all their help.

I have replaced the caps on the power board, and did a continuity test prior to installing the board to ensure all my solder joints where good.

Unfortunately, I'm still having trouble, and I am to blame since I don't think I gave enough information.

My original message stated that the TV took a while to boot up, but after the TV went TU, I neglected to mention that I could see the lamp still turn on but the Green light would continue to flash.

After replacing the caps, it still has the same trouble. Lamp comes on but does not go any further.

Bassman, I have not check the ballast. Can you give me further instructions on checking that out?

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

          Thank you.

          G

If the lamp is lighting, but you get no image, it can't be the ballast. Do you hear the colour wheel spinning up?

I don't know much about DLPs, but there's a DVI connector on most of them used to connect to the DLP chip. Do you have a DVI monitor spare? You could plug it into the DVI output the main board generates to see if it is producing video.

Thanks Tom, Unfortunately all the connections on the back of my TV are output.

Any chance it could be the lamp hour meter? what is the max and would it be a similar problem?

Inside the set, there's an internal DVI connection, you can try and use this.

                        ok. I'll check it out.

But if the TV came up, would it not make that music indicating it's running? I don't get that far.

It probably would... which would definitely point to a main board fault.

Main board is a replaceable part.

My Samsung UE75TU7020k lights up fine when one of the ribbon cables are disconnected from the main board, lights stay on but not getting half a picture, I do the same with the other ribbon and put the other one in and lights stay on but not getting half a picture. The standby light flashes 2 times then reboots then it then tries to come back on again and just keeps looping until I take either one of the ribbon tables out (doesn’t matter which one I take out it stays lit when either one is out). I’ve tested the backlights but all working with none shorting out, I’ve replaced the main board...

                                  Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
                                  - sound and backlight, but no picture
                                  - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
                                  - it keeps rebooting
                                  - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
                                  - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
                                  - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

Hi, I'm new here and looking for some advice on how to diagnose an issue i have with 2 samsung TVs.

I have a UE32J5500AK and a UE48H6400AK both with the same issue of red light but nothing happening on the screen, the red light responds to remote or button press by flashing once but stays red. I have searched forums but most turn up a blinking red light.

I have tried replaceing the power board on the UE32J5500AK last year but this resulted in the same outcome.
The UE48H6400AK recently developed some small bright areas on the screen, then last week would not power...

I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and
