    # 3 does not look right, 1.56V when flickering, and 0.23V when stable.
Do you know if # 3 is the dimming control line and #4 is the BL_ON line?

Any clues as to the differences?

Measurements taken from the connection pins on the inverter board [17CON08-2 - V1] ...

    Whilst flickering...
    1: 0.00 to 0.01
    2: 0.00 to 0.01
    3: 1.56 to 1.57
    4: 2.75 to 2.78
    5: 26.0 to 26.3
    6: 26.0 to 26.3

    Stable picture...
    1: 0.00 to 0.01
    2: 0.00 to 0.01
    3: 0.23
    4: 2.75 to 2.78
    5: 25.5 to 25.7
    6: 25.5 to 25.7

0.5V can be significant, on which rail do you measure this?

Well, there's a small fluctuation of about 0.5v on some of the pins.

I would check if the outputs from the power supply are stable.

Does this mean that the voltage is fluctuating? Should I look at those diodes again?

Yes. When the picture does stabilise, so does the light in the corner.

Yes. That pulsates with the picture right?

Without checking, I would say yes, probably, but it'll have to wait for now...

Well--Is it caused by the backlight flickering....?

OK, but what what am I looking for?

I have a picture on the screen, but it flashes/flickers rapidly.

Can you see if its the backlight that's doing the flashing--or the actual image on the screen?

Since the repair, I've tried to use the TV as a PC monitor [VGA connection], but the picture flashes rapidly. It was working OK in TV mode. I've tried different refresh rates, but nothing stops the flashing.

I shall test with an HDMI cable when I have one, but now it's started flashing in TV mode as well. It sometimes stops after a short while with a decent picture, but changing some of the TV settings will start it off again. The rate of the flashing depends on which setting is been changed.

Could it be anything to do with the repair? Should I not have used UF5408 diodes?

I only had some of the thermal paste for CPU heatsinks, so used that.

It has to be better than nothing.

BUSH 42" LED TV. BLED42FHDAE Completely dead. Diagnosed and solution awaiting parts..
    by PsiDOC
HI all. Just a note for anyone that has one of these TVs.
    Make: Bush (China)
    Model: BLED42FHDAE.
Symptoms: Half screen went dark, then tv wend dead. No power lights. Fuse checked ok.

First thing checked was standby 5v: Present @ 5.1v.
PS_ON signal from main board: Present @ 4.5v.
I suspected the power supply to be in a foldback / crowbar condition after the screen going out, so I disconnected the power to LED Backlight board (Part ER643). Now standby light is on and TV responds to remote power on - light goes green.
    Disconnected the LEDs from the...

How can I be sure that my EC chip is dead?
    by double_DD
    Hi all,

As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?

I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.

Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard...

    Chieftec GPS-450-AA with dead 20N60C3
    by zunasthegreat
Hello everyone hope all doing well!
I have this PSU (GPS450-AA delta oem) around for like 4-5 years and I had it recapped early 2020 or 2021 with mostly UCC KY and Nichicon PW's. The bulk was and still is fine, the original Ltec's were bloated and empty. The previous issue was some major coil whine noise and at times random shutdowns when going idle. Today it started tripping the mains breaker and I think I have dead APFC mosfets (20N60C3). Right now upon checking I have the Q1 and Q3 FETs dead so far and I guess those are responsible for the PFC circuit. The only thing I care is If there...

MSI Raider GE75 - Not posting, probable dead CPU
    by FiguringITout
Hello, today I'm working on this lovely MSI Raider GE75 gaming laptop which I bought to flip. Unfortunately, I believe the CPU is toast but I wanted a second opinion before I chucked it into my spare parts bin. I will not have most tools with me today as I'm away from my workbench but I have the basics (a good multimeter, a horrible iron, a solid screwdriver, and my trusty thermal cam). I do not have the original 230w charger, but I have a Dell 180w which was sold with the device and reportedly "worked fine for them".

Specs: I7-10750H, RTX 2060, 32GB RAM (unknown manufacturer)...

Help with Bush Tv (Vestel 17mb95m Mainboard)
    by FlailingEngineer
Hi, I was recently given a Bush Smart TV by a friend and the main board seems to be hanging on by a thread.

Before we get to that, my first obstacle was figuring out the model number since the back sticker has gone for a walk. Upon taking off the back case, I noticed the following Vestel parts, 17MB95m mainboard, 17IPS71 (what I'd assume is power supply) and a VES420UNVL-3D-S02 display panel. After doing some research I think the TV I have is a Bush ELED42240FHDCNTD3D, based on the matching image here (https://www.manualslib.com/manual/11...td3d.html#manu...
