Coby TFTV4028 - Main board failure.

Symptoms - Unable to turn on. Plugged in would display single blue light at middle bottom.

Assumed issues with main board. Looked for replacement board - Unable to find/Sold out.

Noticed multiple other folks had same issues and ended up replacing the 1000uF caps on main and power supply.

On main board, Middle cap was baddly damaged. Replaced with similar 1kuF at 35v.

Tv turns on and stays on.

    Success \o/

Re: Coby TFTV4028 - Main board failure.

i have one of these sets, it has recently failed, all of the electrolytic caps appear to be fine
    however
    c305 & c309 are melted beyond recognition,
it may have also damaged c101 from the heat/burn mark

is there any way i can get the values from those three locations on the power boardd please? anyone?
    thanks!

Re: Coby TFTV4028 - Main board failure.

There are 3 different mainboards for the TFTV4028, depending on the panel and inverters used - maybe even different LVDS as well.

Coby 002-FV40-2813-00R for AU Optronics T400HW03 panel
Coby 002-FV40-2812-00R for Samsung LTZ400HF21-W01 panel
Coby 002-FV40-2810-00R for Samsung LTA400HM02 panel

      They are all slightly different.

Good photos of that at shopjimmy.com, though.

I've been meaning to make a table of power supplies, inverters and mainboards that appear in a "TFTV4028" There are at least 3 different TVs in that model number.

The power supplies also vary: Megmeet MLT198TX and VP290UG02.

I have had two different models of this TV, and they both failed :-)

I may test the caps listed above.

Re: Coby TFTV4028 - Main board failure.

I have the same tv Coby TFTV4028 and now its completely stopped working and now looking for some help. Some time last year if the power would go out and a few minutes later come on the tv wouldnt turn back on. The blue light was on but it simply wouldnt turn on. I left it unplugged for around 24hrs and plugged it back in and it worked great.

It stopped working again when we lost power and the power came one, same issue, left it unplugged for a day or two and plugged it back and and it worked.

Well now it wont come back on, when a power cord is plugged in the blue light comes on but the power button is useless. I saw a post about the main power board probably died, so I saw that shopjimmy.com had a replacement so I ordered it. I just got it installed and its still has the same issue, so it looks the the main power supply board is fine.

Looking at the main motherboard I dont see the usual signs of bad caps (swelling/leaking). I'm not seeing a marking for C305, C309 or C101.

Anyways could someone point me in the correct direction? Should I just replace some caps or can i test them?

        Thanks!

Post good clear pictures of the front and back of the power supply board and close up of connectors then we can suggest a few tests.
With the new main board does the on/off still not work?
Please can you update your profile with country and mains voltage.
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

I'll get some pictures taken when I get home in a few hours.

The new board I bought is the power supply board, after installing it the TV still acts the same as it did before with the old power supply board making me think its an issue with the mainboard.

Also I updated my profile, I'm in the US.

            Thanks!

Hi and thanks in advance for any input you might provide!
I have a Sceptre U550CV-UMRD8POTV83BB 4K LED (this is a dumb tv) that I bought new in August 2021, so It's just completed 3 years.
Main power board model: TP.MS3683.PC821 T-Con board: N4TP546UHDPU2L_BO

Last Sunday I was watching a dvd and fell asleep for about half hour, when I awoke the tv screen was black and couldn't get the dvd menu to show, so I changed the input to antenna and had sound but no picture, turned it off. I then got online and found this great site! ....read many troubleshooting tips and this...

                      Sony xbr-65x900c main board issues?
                      by jb_Bak
Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
Power Board Connector that goes to Main board
                      CN6401
                      Pin 01 NC
                      Pin 02 NC
                      Pin 03 "BL_ON": 0V
                      Pin 04 "N/C"
                      Pin 05 "STBY 3.3V": 3.5V
                      Pin 06 "GND": N/C
                      Pin 07 "AC_OFF"...

(SOLVED) - ONN 100012588 No Power, Then Rebooting After Main Board Change

                      ONN 100012588
Issue: No Power, Then Rebooting After Main Board Change

Short answer: replace main board and power board
Technical answer: replace main board and Q306 & Q307 on power board.

                      Long answer:

TV wouldn't turn on. Power switch was fine which means the main board isn't processing the power on signal. Replaced main board. TV turns on now but randomly reboots. Bad main board? EEPROM? Tried to pull main board and got a shock touching the corner of the board. That's weird. C334 (450V 10uf) capacitor is still holding a high charge....

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Is it possible to upgrade from a Vestel 17MB97 main board to a 17MB110 Main board?
                      by cheeky2
I suppose the real question is whether the existing pinouts from ether a 17IPS71 psu are cross compatible with a 17IPS12 psu? If they are then the exchange of the main boards should have no issues providing the screen is compatible with both main boards. Obviously you can change the screen configurations easily enough (providing you have the correct files) for the main board. Why may you ask would I do this? Well a lot of the smart features are no longer working on a Hitachi 48HBT62U main board I wish to give it a new lease of life!
Obviously the same LVDS connector for the screen connection...
