Viewsonic VX2255WMB Broken - Need some guidance

Hey, new here, first post, like what I see so thought I'd drop a line. It is a little overwhelming the info here but it does keep me optimistic about reviving my old monitor.

I have the same symptoms as this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...ghlight=9973gh
My monitor is the same and the board looks same as in the pics there.

The power blue LED goes on, screen flashes grey/white? for a millisecond it is so fast hard to tell if the whole screen is that colour. Then the LED power light goes to red after 2-5 seconds, some times longer, but usually 2-5.

I opened up the LCD after reading the bad caps thread here https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...087#post317087
and replaced two caps that were bulged, the other caps looked fine.

    Symptoms still exist.

Conducted flashlight test (after cap repair) and I can see images on the screen and they change when refreshed, however, screen is not lit up at all.

In the other threads, they were successful in replacing the fuses, that is my next step unless some one can see an error in my actions above.

My questions after measuring with my multimeter the two fuses, (my multimeter does not have a continuity beep setting, the instructions say to use the 2000Ω setting)

    - the P F200 SMD fuse read 1 on the meter, I reversed the probes and got several random flashing high numbers and then a 1
    - the Y F101 fuse read a 003-001 on the meter, I reversed the probes and got 002-001, the longer I held the probe the lower it got till reaching 001 (5 seconds total)

    1. I am thinking that the P F200 fuse is shot and needs replacing?
    2. I am thinking that the Y F101 fuse is ok?
    3. I am thinking that the P F200 fuse controls the lamps to light up the dark images I see with the flashlight?
    4. The bulged capacitors are the cause of the fuse blowing?

I am quite confused as how to order/pick out a new fuse from digikey, can some one help me with that or is there another website?

Any thoughts and/or corrections to my thinking, please let me know
    Martin

Re: Viewsonic VX2255WMB Broken - Need some guidance

Update: after further research this afternoon, I noticed in another thread to test the transistors, I was not exactly sure what pins to connect so I tried multiple combinations.

I connected black probe to the upper left pin and the red probe to the bottom flat lip type pin and then to the middle unattached upper pin and then to the upper right pin, all readings of 1, I reversed the red and black probe and did the same, all readings of 1,
    this taken at 2000Ω

Conclusion: the transistors are fried too? Where to buy and how do I know exactly which ones to get?

    Thanks
    Martin

My 2 seconds to black guide starting with post #19 (see sig file below) has procedures on how to test and interpret your multimeter results.

Feedback from people who use digikey is excellent. They have live support people (using phone or chat) who are extremely helpful and can help you find the correct parts.

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.
