My Samsung LCD TV LN46C630 is totally unresponsive. I don't even get a click.
The standby light is on and will flicker a couple times if I try to turn the set on.
Now I have to tell you that I have had the flicker problem for some time but I lived with it because I assumed it was due to the fact that my signal comes through a little WD converter box so I can watch Netflix on the TV. Temporarily I only have Internet and no cable TV. Bad assumption. Between Google and this Forum I see that I am far from alone in the flicker department.
I have the back off and snipped JP852 while I was here according to some good info I found here. Of course that did not fix the problem of the set not turning on.
I did call Samsung and the lady ran me through her flow chart and then decided I needed a tech to come out and it's a chargeable call. I said 'what about the 7 million tv's that are being fixed free because of factory defects ?" She said I didn't fall in that category because my set was newer that those. Right now I don't go back to work til July and $150 might as well be a million so here I am.
I do not see any obviously swelled caps and both fuses on the mainboard check okay.
I need some guidance for sure. I'm not a pro TV repairman but I'm a certified computer tech and I have repaired a couple crt's in my time and a few years back I built a Heathkit GR-2000. If you know what that is you've been around for a while like myself..
