LG 55LV5400 55" LED TV, very slow refresh rate

One of my co-workers has a tv that is just out of warranty and has a very slow refresh rate. Ironically, it is similar to this he says (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GB1dEtHxDE). He is asking $150 for it. My question is, I am new to tv/monitor repair but not to repairing electronics. Is this something I should take a risk on, and do you think it is fixable for a reasonable amount of money.

As a teacher, I wanted a hobby for this summer, and I think it is going to be repairing TVs. If someone could give me some insight on what they think the problem might be, I would be very appreciative. Thanks.

This is probably a tab bond problem. Same effect here:

The problem can be difficult to permanently fix. $150 is too much in my opinion because you can easily damage the panel when repairing it. And don't underestimate how truly massive 55" is. Very difficult to work on...

Hey, just curious if you guys ever figured this problem out? I have the same problem with a 55LV5500, its only 2 years old. I looked at all the tab bonds and they all look solid, and i cleaned them off etc.. didnt know if there was anything else i could do to diagnose.

Can't find the pics of the Sony tab bonds , but here are some of a Samsung I did. I do the tab bonds with the set standing with only the bottom screws holding the frame. I found doing it that way I can check with the frame on the picture over and over with no chance of the glass panel moving , and getting broken.
