more bad news,

the ic chips arrived. when looked at the psu, i saw a tiny smd transistor broken Q9.
(had to put the pcb over bouble wrap, big mistake!)

all that is written is: 2.A 1 ->the 1 is on its side.

i dont know what to do,

how can i know its specs.

I'm thinking could be one of these, watch out for the different package sizes.

Could it be the 1 is a "-" One of the NXP sheets has - 2A where - = Hong Kong

im sure of the writing.
never swapped such a transistor before, so i dont even know how to search for
specs.
added a picture for more reference.

a schematic would be of help, even if i have to pay for it.

2N3906 sounds right for a driver transistor. There's no particular performance requirement there.

Any MMBT3906 in a SOT23 package. Do you have any old dead boards you could steal from? A chance you will find one otherwise you may have to buy a lot more than you need.

OK i listened to your advice and, looked at my junk boards that i stashed long time ago.

found similar transistor 2A 3 on the side. from a pci lan card.

should it fit?

i think that the are pretty gentle,

with temp should i use on the hot air?

or should i work with the soldering iron?

I don't have hot air, I use 2 irons and heat all 3 pins at once. If what you found is SMD it should be the same size I expect. Was the location on the board marked as if it was a transistor like Q___ or PQ ___?

Q9 as you can see in the pic ive added.

No, on the pci donor board. I just want to be sure it's a transistor and not a diode but if you're sure it's a transistor I'd go with it. The sideways number is just going to be a production stamp, the 2A will be the mark.

its Q1 on the pci Card.

ill try to find some flux and get it out later tonight or tommorow.

sounds good, hope it works out. adding fresh leaded solder to the pins will help to get it off faster since they use lead free which I dislike.

replaced both the transistor and ic,

it works!
