    Panasonic TC-P65S2 has full-height 3" vertical bar

(Originally posted in Tom's excellent troubleshooting thread, moved on suggestion. Hope it's in the right place!)

Hi Tom, got a Panasonic TC-P65S2 that developed a full height 3" vert. bar about 1/3 of the way in from right edge. Bar characteristics are difficult to describe, but suffice it to say that it's most visible on a black screen, say when changing inputs when screen momentarily black. During normal operation most of the bar is fairly unnoticable except for a slight change in color values, the exception being the far right edge of the bar which is a quite noticeably 1-2 mm thin stripe, usually reddish but changes depending upon what's dispalyed on the screen, sometimes nearly invisible. Most noticeable when displaying a darker object (Face, car, etc.) near the bar when the background is light (sky, white room, etc.) Upon close inspection the majority of the bar's distortion is caused by very, very thin dark lines evenly spaced at 1-3 mm. Only other characteristic is that there seems to be a horizontal component to the bar in that at times (depending on what's being displayed at any given moment) the bar seems to be comprised of a series of rectangles of maybe 1.25-1.5" in height, so it looks like a stack of blocks. Again, these "blocks," like the entire bar, it only really discernible as a value distortion, or "difference" from the rest of the display. Does that make any sense? Pretty sure it's the PDP (seems to be the concensus) Read thru forum and found some similar, but not identical, threads. Thought I'd run it past you. Thanx for your time and patience Tom.

Will supply pictures if someone can tell me best way to accomplish that. :-) Is there a way to screen cap it? I'm afraid just taking a snapshot might not pick up the subtle stuff.

PS. Looking for Service Manual for this unit as well. Thanx!

Re: Panasonic TC-P65S2 has full-height 3" vertical bar

Been trying to find my camera all day, daughter has it in Cali. BUT!!!! But, I just went into the room the set is in and IT'S GONE! The bar is GONE! What does that mean??? The television wasn't even off, just in dimmed standby. I had unplugged it earlier today for a half hour or so to reset and give anything heat related a chance to cool off, but it was still there when I plugged it in and turned it on. It's been on for a couple hours now and had been on standby for a bit when I bumped the remote and it woke up the line was adios. Still leary. Does this bode any better for prognosis?

Definitely sounds like a loose connector. It'll come back, but it gives hope for fixing it permanently.

I picked up a Panasonic NH-P70G2, though it would apply to the NH-P80G2, NH-P70G1 and NH-P80G1 models as well, as maybe some other models. This one was coming up with a H86 error. After lots of testing and googling it was an error with one of the thermistors in the condenser area.
The attached French service manuals is incorrect, TH11 is gray and is a 95k thermistor and TH12 is black and is a 35k thermistor.
In my case TH12 was bad. I was able to get a 35k thermistor on AliExpress. It's 6mm in diameter.
Unfortunately the whole machine has to come apart to fix it.

Panasonic TC-P55ST50 8 blinks then no blinks
          by Andre Gilbert
Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

Looking for Vertical IC for RCA Chassis CTC159L CRT
          by mopenstein
I'm working on my 27" RCA console TV built in 1990. It had some vertical rollover for a few months that went away after being powered on for a few minutes. I had been meaning to open it up and check it out but it had total vertical collapse before I could get to it.

Now that I have the time I opened it up and found a couple leaky capacitors around the vertical ic. So I figured the caps went bad and cooked the vertical IC.

I got the caps out and replacements on order. But when I took out the Vertical IC I saw that the chip numbers have been almost completely wiped...

          Screen Display Vertical Multicolor Lines
          by Stanley1843
Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...
