Sanyo CE26LC81B -- Intermittent white screen

Picked this one up off the curb . Someone dumped it outside their bins. A little grubby and dirty, I expected the screen to be cracked. Shopping in one hand, 26" TV in the other, I got it home...

Got it home, powered up to a white screen with some faint lines... Gave it a few whacks and... it came back. Everything works?!

I found the LVDS cable and one power connector to be a little up on one end, I clipped both down and it has played fine for about 12 hours.

It's just a crappy Vestel set (yeah, Sanyo rebadge Vestel junk too) so I'm not sure I want to give it to a friend or sell it in case it goes wrong. Need to leave it playing for longer. But it seems fine.

Over here there's no such thing as a real SANYO TV anymore as they're all rebadged chinese generics with their firmwares modified for whatever brand logo on startup.

    Usally Samsung panels for PDP,

    AUO, Chimei etc for LCD

I do believe PANASONIC has taken over SANYO at least here so maybe in the future maybe we'll be seeing some rebadged Panasonics here, that'd be nice.

Brands that stood for something when i was a kid like, Rank Arena, AWA, Thorn, Sanyo etc most are nothing more than the label sadly these days for TVs at least.

Re: Sanyo CE26LC81B -- Intermittent white screen

Panasonic have closed down the Sanyo brand . They briefly produced some budget 720p and 1080p plasmas based on Panasonic panels, cheaper than Panasonic's own... probably the only "off brand" 1080p plasmas I have heard of. Panasonic should have kept it as a budget brand -- maybe Panasonic based TVs with less features or only 720p etc. etc.

Sanyo UK gave up in the later years and everything they made was rebranded trash.

This TV has a Chimei panel.

Really, well that's strange why would you buy the brand to shut it down unless they were outselling you. How big was Sanyo in the UK? over here about the only place you'd but a Sanyo TV was BIG W(woolworths) your typical national budget retail store. pretty sure they had the licence to market the Sanyo brand exclusively for TVs.

I know Panasonic uses Sanyo semiconductors in their boards.

Re: Sanyo CE26LC81B -- Intermittent white screen

In the UK, Sanyo was regarded as a poor mid-tier brand, primarily because their later CRTs were of Vestel design, and their LCDs were too. I think they briefly produced some of their own LCDs for the UK market, but the damage to the brand had been done, so they just reverted to rebadging stuff again.

Sharp and Toshiba have begun re-badging crap now, how long until those brands become regarded as rubbish, I wonder.

Sanyo semiconductor still exists but will slowly be sold off or integrated into Panasonic's semiconductor business.

Sharp, yeah that was another big brand not so much now, Toshiba probably better known fo their laptops but my brother in law has a 4-5 year old 46" Toshiba LCD and i must admit as much as i don't like LCDs it was really impessive picture wise for motion blur.

Re: Sanyo CE26LC81B -- Intermittent white screen

A few years ago, both made their own sets and sold them in the UK. However, they have recently begun rebadging in the last few years. Initially just their 19" and 22" products... meh... but then they went as far as 40", LED, 3D etc.etc. and all but their highest end are re-badged models. It's not going to do them any good.

If Sharp, Toshiba, Sanyo etc used Vestel factories but their own parts I wouldn't complain. I guess they are saving on R&D.

probably more about keeping the brand in the market place. I just hope panasonic does not go down the toilet.

I was watching one of NORCAL youtubes on late model panasonic plasma. not sure if i like the all in one SN boards and ASASHI caps. Had a bare and cheap look about it.

They had enough trouble with SC boards and heatsinks, now it's looks like all SMD. i wonder how that goes with heat dissapation?

Re: Sanyo CE26LC81B -- Intermittent white screen

Yeah, I do not like that at alll... Aishi are high end for Chinese caps but I've seen quite a few fail... on the PSU they also use TAICON, which have a high failure rate. The SMD FETs are seen failing on Samsung boards, but perhaps Panasonic's decision to stick with 2-layer sustains will help a little as there's more copper to spread the heat. They have got much higher efficiency panels, but they still want around 200W for full white for a 42". And a combined SN board... cracked screen means those won't be any good as we know from shorted buffers, luckily that only applies for the 42" 720p and 1080p models.

OK, so the TV eventually died. Turned out not to be a loose LVDS as I had expected, but instead was bad tab bonds.

To ask here... I have few devices with white screen problem, actualy nokia 2220 and some fuji? camera, and try to understand what is common problem to cause that issue.
Yes, both devices work everything else probably ok, I mean, I hear intro melody and keypress click sound, DTMF tone, power on off... all ok.
On desk is nokia 2220 slide, and I check all screen connectors and components arround it, measure voltage drop, but all looks ok. I suspect on slide flex cable, but it look ok and white screen is not interupt while flexing board, pushing conectors, and sliding up down. In attachment...

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
                      by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

                      Another TV topic!!
I got this sharp TV that when I first plugged it in it showed the sharp logo and then went to the input screen. This was about 30 seconds and then it showed white screen. Now I can't see anything but white screen. This has a separate TCON and Main.

The TCON is getting 12V and several parts are as well but the VGH line is only .5Volts which I thought is totally incorrect.

Am I on the correct assumption that the TCON is bad somehow if I'm only getting that voltage or is there something else I should check?...
