    Philips 47pfl3603d/27 backlight problem

My backlight will shut off. It is just the backlight, if I shine a light near the screen I can still see the image. If I turn the tv off and back on, it will work properly for maybe 30 seconds. The longer the TV is left off, the longer it will work when turned back on.

Did a search, seems like this could be the same issue as mine:
    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...7pfl3603d%2F27

Post hadn't been updated in a while, thought it would be better to start a new topic.

The back of the set near the power board (model PLHL-T722A) gets unusually warm, although honestly it wasn't something I would have checked before I had problems. Maybe it was always like that. Also, there is a slight toasty smell coming from the vent over the power board.

I removed the back of the set, and was hoping to see some bulging capacitors (had fixed a different tv previously by replacing them). All the capacitors on the power board look ok. All flat tops except the very large black capacitors in the center of the board. They are black on top, no vents... maybe they aren't capacitors. Are these supposed to be completely flat also? When I look at pictures of the board online, they all seem to have a slight arc to them.

The only spot on the board that looked like potential trouble was on the back of the board. This is near where the backlight(s) plug in. I attached an image, look about an inch to the left of the white peg. Maybe that is just flux? Difficult to tell from the image, sorry for the poor quality.

There was a firmware update that mentions this issue specifically, but it didn't help. It is the actual hardware, not the software.

Any suggestions? I would like to confirm it is the power board before I replace it.

    Re: Philips 47pfl3603d/27 backlight problem

In case anyone comes across this topic by search, I'll give an update.

I did go ahead and replace the power board. TV seems to be working fine. If that didn't fix it, I could have just re-sold the board on ebay for a slight loss, worth the risk I'd say.

Before I replaced the board, when the TV would function, there was never a brightness issue with the backlight or any pink discoloration, so I just assumed it was something wrong with the inverter part of the power board.

Strangely, with the replacement board, the TV seems less bright now. Not too dark, actually more of what I would expect from an '08 ccfl backlit tv. It makes me wonder if the original board had an over voltage problem, and simply turning down the brightness in the menu would have been a work around. I'm not curious enough to put the old board back in to test, but I'll keep it around in case I ever have to take it apart again

      Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
      by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

      Assuming...

Activate power board Philips 40PFH40009/88 tv
      by spantor
      Hello partners.

Could someone tell me how to make this Philips TV source work without the mainboard being connected? The model of the board is EAX65423701 (2.1) and the model of the Philips TV is 40PFH40009/88.
The TV is dead, there is no standby light, however there is a voltage of 12v on the pins ( included 12v VAU ) and 3.2v on the PS-ON pin (see photo) when the power board is connected to the main board. If I disconnect both boards I only get 8 volts on 12v pins. I would like to rule out a fault in the main board by making it work, but so far no one has been able to tell...

Samsung UN55H8000AF - No Picture, Working Backlight, Replaced T-Con Board
      by ermals
      Hi all!
I've recently run into an issue with my Samsung UN55H8000AF LED TV displaying no image. I've done quite a bit of research in terms of what could be wrong with it. Below are the steps I've taken prior to reaching out here for some assistance:

      1. I've tried replacing the T-Con board (BN95-01594A), twice and have still experienced the same issue with all the boards I've tested with.
      2. I've tried to remove one side of the ribbon cable that goes from the T-Con board to the panel and still not getting any image on left or right side.
      3. I've checked voltages...

Looking for help with a Viewsonic VP230mb where the backlight comes on only momentarily
      by lostone
Hello, I came here after finding some similar questions asked on other monitors and hope someone here can help me get an ancient Viewsonic VP230mp (23" 4:3 LCD) back to working condition.

First a little background, I have a background in computer and electrical engineering, and I'm smart enough to know I know nothing about LCD displays and how they work. For this topic I'm as green as they come.
When the display is turned on the viewsonic logo displays in the uppper left for 2 seconds then the screen goes black, the power LED is green (on) and when a computer is connected...
