    Vizio VP503 Black Screen Quick Question

    Black screen. Visio logo turns to white when on, amber when off.

    I am hearing a short buzz or whine from the SC on pressing the power button. I think it might be a possible bad cap but I don't have an ESR and I'm not sure I want to bother replacing caps or purchasing a new board just on a slight noise. Is there anyone here who might be able to tell me there shouldn't be any noise coming from that board?


    PSU is giving out correct voltages. Voltage regulators are all to spec(DMM). (Can't check for glow - it's still too bright here)



    Thanks for any help. Just trying to get an idea if I should bother going further.

      Problem

      This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

      Hi everyone,
      I have this strange behaviour with Acer Aspire E5-574-52RH, i5 6200U, intel graphics, DA0ZRWMB6G0 Rev G, model ZRW.
      Laptop came in for a SSD upgrade, took everything apart to install the SSD.
      Everything started after modifying BIOS settings to boot UEFI instead of Legacy.
      Laptop works fine, i installed windows 10 and drivers/updates, everything works ok(when it works)
      The black screen problem is random, maybe 5 out 10 times, laptop remains with the black screen, no image

      Symptoms are:
      - random black screen after displaying Acer logo...

      So our beloved M60-C3 up and died the other day. I was not there, my wife mentioned that it came on, displayed the logo, then showed the right half of the screen white and fuzzy, with the left half of the screen ok. However when I got around to looking at it, the screen would not come on at all. The indicator LED will come on, then dim a bit. After a while, the LED might blink a bunch of times. I can't get it to be consistent to do that.

      So I've got the back off and am checking voltages. The capacitors on the power supply board visually check out. No bulges or anything. They all show...
