    Element FLX3711B

Tv would only turn on after a few days unplugged, replaced Power supply and nothing, replaced motherboard and worked. Now the problem is picture looks like if it was a computer on 256 color mode and no audio. Only diff in the model of the motherboards is mine was 200-107-GT321XA-AH XA2 and the replacement is an XA (also board was from a polaroid which I thought oh well I'll just get the polaroid logo instead). I had to move jp2 to the lower position for it to boot but I get those ugly colors (like when you set a pc for 256 color mode) and no audio. ANy ideas? Maybe replacement board is also bad?

Probably set for a different panel -- you would need to enter the service menu to change this, if this set has one.

It does... But I cant remember how to get in it. I remember it was a combination using the side buttons but cant remember. I just noticed besides the jumper being in diff position the original board has a jumper on the bottom side from a coil to a cap. But if anybody has the info on getting into the service menu I'll be greatfull.

If it thinks it is a polaroid you could try this ( at your own risk)

has factory reset codes for most tv makes, I believe the polaroid one is the same as what selldoor's link uses.

There are also element ones listed on that thread, but most likely you need the polaroid ones now.

On a lot of sets the factory reset is the same as entering the service mode.
Fixed so far 12 lcd's , 1 plasmas, 5 monitors, 0 dlp's (plan to keep the dlps at 0). and 3 atx power supplies, and 2 motherboards.

I found a difference in the original board on the power supply header connections. The original board has two connections bridged to gnd. I have attached images to better explain myself.

                Maybe it needs that ground?

Check for continuity between the unbroken connections. May be a design alteration.

Probably firmware since it is from anther brand... Original board fires up whenever it feels like it. Could it be caps or cpu maybe? I'm not gonna try a tsop and eeprom swap just yet but I'm considering it. Original board works randomly and once I switch it off it satys off for days sometimes a week before it turns on again if I leave it unplugged for that perod of time.

Have you tried heating up parts of original board to see if you can get it to work or fail?

No, should I try the hair dryer?

                          Re: Element FLX3711B

Used the hair dryer, heated everything on board and nothing still just red light. I was reading one of the FSM's and the troubleshooting flowchart just directs me to the ir board. Polaroid board fires up, once it did turn on just by pluging it in to the outlet. But old board does nothing, I bet if I unplug it for a few days it will turn on again. Seriously considering tsop and eeprom swap. But I would love to get the original working propperly.

This is on the original board which intermittently works?

Yes the original board intermitently works if I unplug it for a few days. Every time I turn it off I have to unplug it for days in order for it to work again.

I would wait until it starts working, then heat it up ...

OR, I would use freeze spray to cool it down to see if I can get it to work again. A can of compressed air, when inverted, also becomes freeze spray.

That makes very little sense for it to be purely dependent upon time and not temperature. How, if at all, have you localised the cooling?

I'm also stumped about that, that is why I was wondering if it could be cpu issues.
