    Plasma TV keeps shutting off/hibernation

A friend of mine just called me asking about her Vizio Plasma tv that seems to be dying and I have no experience with Plasmas at all.

Apparently it just started doing this and it varies in time every five or ten minutes. I'm not sure if it stays on longer after it has been off for a while or not. She said it goes into it's hibernation mode and she has to actually turn it off and then back on. When it shuts off it makes the sound it makes when it turns on except that sound lingers and there is somewhat of a buzzing sound.

I don't want to influence your opinion but to me it sounds like something with the power supply is going but like I said, I have no idea how plasmas are.

    Any ideas?

If there's no picture issue or problem with the sustain boards, you'd treat this exactly like an LCD TV shutting off/hibernating.

Sorry, should have clarified. I know nothing about the LCD TV's also. The only tv's I've dealt with are LCD DLPs.

And yes, she said the picture was fine.

Oh OK. But despite appearances, there are quite a few similarities between rear projection and flat panel. Main board is usually the same or very similar, PSU is quite similar (though usually no ballast output) etc.
