Do we have a complete guide somewhere on this forum with pictures of all possible picture defects for Plasma and LCD?
Like horizontal lines, vertical lines, missing part of picture?
That is one thing I have been collecting from badcaps that show the affects on the screen and what is done to fix the problem such as by replacing the T-CON, the main board, the parts, ECT.
But what happen is that the OP's never come back to tell us if the problem is solved or not after we gave the suggestion and details instructions on what to replace or do, it is one of THE MOST FRUSTRATING thing for me about Badcaps. We are here to help and learn for free, so at least provide the feedback.
Because my GV42L is 7 years old Vizio customer service didn't seem interested in talking with me. I was told that there were no firmware updates and given the name of local repair shops.
Anyways, I almost laughed at this suggested fix, however, I was willing to try anything. I went through the steps with 1 exception. I took the batteries out of the remote. I pressed all the buttons and then placed the batteries back. Pressing input AND menu did not work. However, when I pressed only input and powered on the set it at the same time the input menu appeared and the set stayed on. I was then able to switch the input to one that worked.

I agree.
But you already should have a good collection I guess. Maybe one day we can make sticky out of it too. Would help people who frequently repair stuff but are no TV specialists. (like me :-)) I repair a TV like maybe every 3 to 4 weeks, just not enough to acquire picture fault related experience.
Ive no idea to be honest i found it in a search whilst looking for a certain lcd tv model number fault that link i posted came up so saved in my history i will have to register with the site when i get some spare time see what other electronics it covers.
