    Daewoo DF-4501P DVD/VCR No disc?

Friend of the Bro inlaw asked me to take a look so I said yes as he said it was a good one

Anyway, its not, but would still like to get it going for him.

When inserting a disc it attempts to spin then says NO on the screen.

It does the same without a disc too so I know its not even attempting to read a disc when inserted.

There are 2 pots that can be adjusted on the laser housing, i have adjusted these and it still does the same, normally when adjusting pots on lasers it reacts differently, like spinning faster and stuff but this just does the same thing over and over.

I am thinking it has a dead laser (although it is still illuminating) but thought i would stick some pics up on here in case anyone can help if its not.

The reason I think dead laser is because he says he plays copies on it.

Just to add, it doesnt play CDs either, so now I am thinking the laser may be ok?

Re: Daewoo DF-4501P DVD/VCR No disc?

Bad laser would cause no discs to be read.
I'd check PSU outputs and see if they are all there and stable.

Will check them now. Managed to find the service manual, thought it would be hard to find for a piece of poo like this.

          All voltages present and correct.

Is there a way to test the laser?

          Or motor.

The laser will lase, i.e. glow red, if it is working.
The motor will move, if it is working.

              The laser lights up fine.

The motor attempts to spin disc too.

So then if they are both working what are my other options?, I know you're more into tvs but any help would be great as usual.

Tried all that. Not sure about the vcr bit because i havent got any tapes.

I know the head spins up and thats it?

Why he wants it fixing I dont know, can get new dvd players for £15ish.

I recently saw one in the charity shop for £10.
I would guess perhaps the read portion of the laser is not working.

                        Good Afternoon fellas,

                        Issue:
Disc is showing as not supported when a disc is put in.

Here's what I've done, you can skip this if you just wanna know the question:
                        - replaced with a disc drive from a donor ps5 (honestly questionable if this is known to work)
                        - reflowed the disc drive connector
-reflowed the chip in question (shown on image)
                        - I will say this console was very dusty so it's conceivable that it got so hot that it made the chip joints cold and potentially other things on the board

                        Question:
                        I...

Onkyo DX-V500 Laser Disc Player - weird SMPS fault
                        by dkneyle
This relic from a technology path that came to a dead end (but still has historical interest) was brought in with a dead SMPS, which is based around a MK1210 device. I got it going after a battle. It seems to have a strange design - if it's not getting feedback that the secondary is OK it cause the big FET to go into full conduction and overloads resulting in a blown fuse at best or something worse! I'm using a Dim Bulb Tester (70W/230V) which thankfully has saved the day a number of times whilst repairing.

Now, it loads a CD OK. The motor voltage output (which is built onto the SMPS...

Hilti PD30 Laser Range meter Error 276
                        by Dannyx
Good day folks.....wow, seems like forever since I posted anything here Still alive and well, thank you I guess you could say I've become more independent and able to work stuff out on my own. This one though goes way over my head and I doubt is fixable, but maybe some bright spark out there has an equally bright idea.

So: my Hilti PD30 laser meter quit on me just the other day. It was working fine, I set it down for a while and when I tried using it again it gave me an E276 and wouldn't do anything else. I tried taking out the batteries, all that standard stuff but nothing...

                        by triplefour
a friend of mine brought me a Karaoke Machine that was somehow damaged in shipping and will no longer read the Burned DVD that was in it when it was shipped. they swear up and down that it used to read that DVD just fine. The drive was making all kinds of horrible noises and wouldn't read any discs when i started working on it. after cleaning the lens and adjusting the spindle it will read regular CDS now but still wont read any burned CDS or DVDS or even regular DVDs. is this the proper place to ask about this?
cause its a video karaoke machine... not strictly "audio equipment"...

Power DeWalt 12V laser measure from power supply
                        by dansity
                        Hello,
i got a Dewalt laser measure which uses the 12V batteries to operate. The laser measure is faulty and I want to attempt a repair, never fixed such thing before. You might see a different topic if I fail with the repair
However I do not have dewalt batteries nor want to buy one for 140EUR as the laser tool might have some chance that it is very hard to repair or unrepairable.
I want to power it from my PSU.
The tool has 3 input pins, on the battery it is marked with B-, B+ and ID/TH.
i want to know what is the third pin exactly and what do I need...
