Guess my optimism paid off, it works!!!

That part from flattvparts arrived really quick, popped it in and it works like a charm, what's even better my TV now has HD channels, which it didn't have any before.

Would like to say a massive thank you to Tom66 and Vinceroger69 for both your help and advice I am immensely grateful.

I wish you both all the best and I will recommend this site and your help for anyone in the future and I'll of course come here first myself, so happy.

Hah! Awesome. So, in total, about £40 for TV repair, compared to £530?

I guess that board revision has Freeview HD...

I wish we could figure out what goes wrong with the main boards in these Samsung TVs.

Another quick update: After using it again for over a day I can say that the picture quality is better; less noise by a lot (had loads of pixels bouncing around everywhere before, had to look carefully to see them though, but now no longer). Also the only downside so far seems to be a delay in channel audio, when changing channels it now takes 5 secs for the audio to kick in, minor con for such a big gain.

Edit: Nevermind, fixed the sound, went into the service menu and enabled some features, all good now.

Used you before. Appreciate your not insane pricing which has led to a purchase from myself previously, saved a Samsung LCD TV from the dump. When parts cost is more than about £40, I start considering stripping a TV for parts instead of repairing one.

OK, get a piece of wire or a hard-disk drive jumper and place it across pins 3 and 4 here. The white numbers are adjacent to the pins.

Disconnect the brown cable between main board and control board. Leave everything else connected.

Power up the TV and see if you get test pattern(s) on the display.

please tom66 I have currently this problem my samsung ps50c6500 ...when put on , makes a welcoming sound after that nothing happens ,no picture no light on the screen. ...I have try to contact or write u but not allowed.
Any help will be appreciated.
