I think the one discussed here is an X3....

Works brilliantly for the fix on the X3. There's a couple of different F/W versions for that one, I tend to always use the latest dated...
--There's one version,--the earliest I think--that changes the red-spots--to Green spots, although a lot less of 'em!

Its the 'PDP 42 X3####' number thats needed to match the F/W....

I have just finished working on LG 42pc3D set
and had some red sparkles , First off I have fixed a similar set about a year ago and it ran excellent for about 5 months, then a few black bars start to show up upon carefully inspecting the the ribbon cable that goes to the panel I notice that the chip on the ribbon was scorched, so i picked up another pC3d on craigs list which had a bad power board and bad Yboard swapped the parts over from the old set with the vertical bar to the newset , power up the new set and let it run for about an hour .
then I noticed some red sparkles on the screen was visible on all channels, so I turn the ramp down pot onY board and almost all the sparkles disappeared Pic attached is what screen look like now .
