    Lg 42pb4dt

original issue was turns on then makes a clicking sound and shuts off. replace most of the psu caps. no change till i unpluged some of the cables for the side boards first the ysus. tv would then turn on next i unpluged the other side while leaving the ysus hooked up got a spark at that and blew the fuse to the ysus now tv turns on.

can anyone give there input on if the fault was the ysus or something else?
    thanks.

also what are the chances that this repair kit will work or am i better off replaceing the whole board?

      Re: Lg 42pb4dt

Generally with plasmas clicking off, it is detecting a short or issue with, and more than likely for you, the YSUS (well with LGs in this case - X-SUS or the P/S are common symptoms of this too). The fact the fuse blew kept the supply on means there is something wrong on that line.
(You can doubly confirm this by replacing the fuse - TV will click off - removing YSUS from power supply and it will stay on)

Also, I think you found a good reason why you should shut TV off and let the power supply discharge before (dis)connecting any cable ... especially those with a potential of 80-200V.

You probably didn't harm anything but as with any component repair, you may fix the power supply tripping off but still have issues. Though, LGs are notorious for the IPMs failing (and not blowing fuses too). The replacement also is a bit of a hassle (per other members here) but if the YSUS is around 100 and you feel confident then go ahead.

You should also verify voltages too just as a precautionary that everything is still stable and no other problems are existent.

i did shut off the set before unpluging stuff maybe i should of said that.
i think the issue was that when i unplugged the other board that all the power built up on the other side and sparked

from the looks of the lead on the above pics could that be from the spark i saw or could that be the couse of the fault? i think it was the psu that sparked but i am not sure.

I can't see what pic you are referring to but sparking will cause a bit of discoloration and even eat away a little bit at the metal. (The arc-weld effect)
If you are concerned for the psu, just turn the set on again and check to see that the voltages are in spec and are stable.
And in reply to the previous message, the psu will hold a charge although the set is off and/or unplugged. Good to wait for discharge and you can check with a meter if there is still any potential on those wires. If you can't wait, you can use a resistor to bleed the charge off quicker. Use 5-50 Ohm/V and preferably a high wattage resistor.

That just looks like a bit of flux residue.

And I presume if you remove the Y connector it stays on?
What do you get when you test resistance of Va and Vs to ground on YSUS? (With no voltage)

i have to remove the Y to test those right? and yeah i remove fuse and turns on. is the YSUS on the otherside?

You don't have to remove anything really but it may be easier to take the cable off as you did. The Y-SUS is on the left facing the back.
You took the resistance on those pins? There should be a mega-ohm setting you should start with first.

Well I see this answer is very late, but here it is.

The problem with the TV is the power supply going into OCP(over current protection). The Transistors Q852 and Q851 are suffering from a C,B,E short. Basically the die has broken down and caused the Transistors to fail.
However this is not the entire problem. This issue was cause when IC U851 PN#L6598 High side driver became stuck on cooking the transistors.

Change the above parts and also change the 2 bypass diodes D851 and D852 PN# SB140. They are must likely compromised.

                                      Best of luck!

                                      Tim

Hello, I disassembled this dead camera, and found this WTF… Two fuses soldered one above the other !
I was pretty sure nobody touched it before, but that can't be from factory. There is flux, and capacitor is probably missing.
                                        The other weird thing : the fuses are « G » fuse : (0.75A – 8V), seems very low. The original fuse should be « O » : (32V 2,5A).
There is « O » mark beside. All fuses have the same mark letter on main board. So, I can deduce it's a « O » fuse.
And this correspond to the issus I saw : when I plug the battery, I measure the voltage dropping...

Here is a pretty crazy one.

                                        Step 1.
Laptop was brought to me as dead not working. Removed everything , cleared everything.
                                        Step 2.

Some liquid damage close to the Type - C connector, and the connector even though it was cleaned wasn't charging the battery . Removed the Type-C port, and replaced it. Now the laptop turns on and charges battery. Shows external screen , not internal.
                                        Step 3.

Took out the screen and checked it to a secondary Gen 2 i have, screen works like a charm.
                                        Step 4.

Lets ,dive into the board. I see the edp cable on the...

MacBook Pro 14" M1 Pro Turns on functions then turns off when I plug in USB C cable to reset the computer. I disconnect the battery fully and then reconnect it and it won't turn back on. After letting it sit for a day I plug the battery back up, and the MagSafe 3 cable and it powers on and stays ons, once I plug in a USB C cable into the port closes to the MagSafe port it turns off and the Amber light turns off and won't turn on. No water damage, nothing, I want to do a DFU restore to wipe the computer since the customer stated they did an update and ever since it just decided to not work...

Samsung UE46ES8000 Blown fuse but no other signs of short
                                        by jesterace
Hi I wonder if anyone might be able to steer me in the right direction. I have this Samsung UE46ES8000 TV and it went bang during use. The main fuse on the PSU board is open. I've checked every diode/mosfet/transistor I can see and nothing appears to be short to cause the fuse to go. The DC output of the bridge rectifier is not short either. I've seen online that some of these models are known for having their PFC mosfet or other mosfets shorting and blowing the fuse but i'm not seeing that here. If anyone aware of these models having any issues to cause this? I'm reluctant to just replace the...

Help replacing fuse on my Mimaki CJV300-160 vinyl printer
                                        by jshhh
                                        Hi guys,

I'm inexperienced with electronics repairs, I've done a little bit of soldering caps and whatnot, but i have a blown fuse on this mimaki printer I got which I have bought a replacement for.

How do I remove this type of fuse (see picture)...it kinda looks like it would pull out of that bracket but it didn't come at first pull and I didn't want to brute force it incase it's soldered on there like most of the rest of the components.

Anybody know how to remove this type of fuse?

(The fuse is toward the bottom of the image labeled F2)...
