    Sony KDL-40W4100 - Pic Issue

I have this TV that has a distorted image but it seems OSD is not affected leading me to believe the main is at fault.
I ordered another main only to have it flash a 14 code.

That code is LCD panel but I am wondering if that one is actually detecting a fault in the TCON perhaps.

With the replacement board, it cuts on with a backlight for about 10 seconds only to go to that code - but if you disconnect the LVDS cable it stays on, which is why I am leaning towards TCON.

And for funnies, justanswer claims this to be a power supply fault - and to replace the caps - but this supply has chemi-cons and a good steady voltage hmmmm - if those caps failed then there is a bigger problem than the caps lol

I will have pictures Monday but was wondering if any thoughts would arise before I can get back to it.

Hehe, sometimes simple things can make big problems. Apparently, the part number I saw was a board number....and so there was a compatibility issue with the panel model.
    Whoops :P
We'll see how the new main works when it arrives.

Lucky that you are able to get the correct board, I always try to use the P/N on the bar code since they can use the same blank PCB number but they can stuff the board for more than one model of TVs, that is why they use the bar code to identify the PCB assembly. the blank board P/N will stay the same but the PCB assemblies can be more than one. That is how I handle the PCB design and the PCB assemblies since I do the same when designing the PCB, I make it so I can use the same board for many product lines. Good job figuring out.

What kind of pic issues were you having? I have a KDL-40SL140 THE PICTURE LOOKS dim and almost looks like a cartoon or video animation...

It was blocks of scattered color. (I can't really describe it. There is a justanswer.com case where the client does have a picture, but mine was a bit worse.)

So, did you get another main board and that did fix the TV?
I may pick up one of these myself.
