Here is a link for the Updated big cap. It has roughly the same diameter and length as the one Tom posted above. I would just make sure that the 1.5 inches isn't going to be to long or interfere with anything.

It's even smaller than I thought. 150uF is typical for 32" but I guess the company found they could "get away" with using a 68uF.

edit: Doh! Check before posting. I chose exactly the same cap as Bill did.

Did anybody ever figure this Sceptre 32 out? I have 2 of these sets approx. 2 years old and both are doing the same thing. I changed the bulk cap in 1 set, but the backlight is still flashing on/off after the TV has been on for about an hour. Any help would be great, hate to replace something that can be fixed. Thanks.

If the back lighting is from the inverter board could this cause it to flash on/off? Found this on Ebay, anybody think its worth 20 bucks to try?

whats wrong is your getting a voltage leakage along the backlight power rail most causes are from the 3pin schottky diodes. The base is not getting enough voltage to open the gate. also a capacitor could be leaking too. I get these problems a lot in my shop. haier, viore and sceptre is notorious for this, a leaking capacitor can only be checked for that with oscillator or a capacitor checker. they are about 60 buck for a good one.

Hello all ,, first post here and dont know very much about testing board components, so to simplify things a bit i can replace a board if needed. my x32 is doing the same thing so to stay within my capabilities should i replace the board with the main power going to it? thanks for any help.

I know this is a shot in the dark. I have the same TV with the same problem. Did replacing the caps fix the problem? My readings are almost identical to the ones listed in the thread earlier.

                Thank you,
