Hitachi AV Receiver, victim of dog pee!

    Quick video showing diagnosis:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3U-jWT0xu4

Dog pee caused the bridge rectifier to short on the standby part of the primary side, blowing the mains fuse.

tom, if that's your channel, I don't see why you bother uploading in 720p - it's obvious that camera isn't capable of that. Lightning is also crap.

I'd recommend getting a used camera off eBay if you're serious about making tube videos, there's some very nice low light sensor cameras there.

My channel. Youtube did the scaling -- my camera outputs 640x480 VGA at a full 30fps. I guess it makes it widescreen by converting it to 720p.

For the videos I edit, my video editor outputs 720p because it makes text and images clearer.

When I get the time or money, I will, but for now I'm stuck with my camera. (Nikon Coolpix 7600) The video really lacks on it, but it takes fantastic macro pictures for a compact.

Additionally, I found a 33 ohm resistor on the PSU had failed -- it's the big ceramic one, R419 I think. It's a common failure on these PSUs apparently, not sure whether the dog pee made it worse?!

Hitachi HTA-DD3W AV Receiver Error Code -Protect-
            by CdDvdFlash
I have a Hitachi HTA-DD3W AV receiver and when I got it I tested it working fine with speakers but it needed a clean inside because it had signs of moisture in it but it was fully dry with bits of wood chips, I guess this was left in a shed so I fully disassembled it and cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol very carefully, some de-soldering was also needed but now its very clean, luckily there was no rust on any components and all the capacitors are fine with no bulging. When I turn it on I hear a relay switch on then a few seconds later another relay switches on or off and the display has a "-PROTECT-"...

wireless receiver for 6 speeds fan control with remote control
            by wolf1976
hi i have a receiver that is destroyed from the overvoltage i guess
my question is has three wires u v w for driving a motor fan i found an other receiver wireless from aliexpresss with the same propertiew but for dc motor
the motor fan has not label
i have an other receiver operational
In your opinion can i measure the voltage at the output ?
what do you suggest me with a simple instrument multimeter or using someone instrument more specific ?
            thanks in advance...

Help with blowing transistor NAD T752 receiver
            by rddube
            Hello everyone,

I guess I need help from the masters to try and find what is frying a 2SC5669 transistor on the left channel of this front center Amp for a NAD T752.

Was working perfectly and all of a sudden I heard a pop, and then a glow from the amp. Not only did the 2SC5669 burn a leg, but R520 which is a 220 ohm resistor partially burned - it now measures 110 ohms.

I bought this amp second hand fairly cheap as it was not working, it went into protection mode. I finally traced it down to the same transistor Q510, the one that just popped. It was shorted...

DSE GE6878 possible TV receiver dying remote not working well
            by CdDvdFlash
For this Dick Smith TV GE6878 (Thompson) I replaced the broken remote with a universal it kinda works though if its more than a few meters away sometimes the buttons register and sometimes they wont so I bought another remote from another brand and it has the same problem, I've had an old TV in the past that the sensor died completely and I replaced it to fix it could this be a similar problem? I tried looking for a service manual, spare parts for a receiver and a parts list but I couldnt find any info. can someone please help me to find the info online for a service manual or where I can buy...

Diagnosing NAD receiver -- unexplained shut-downs
            by JordanW
Everyone -- I am trying to troubleshoot my NAD C740 stereo receiver, which either won't power on or won't consistently stay powered on.

I will start by saying that I am a hobbyist, and while I am decently handy with basic DC stuff, I am more hesitant when it comes to mains-powered equipment (that is, reluctant to poke around with a multimeter when it is powered on)

The central issue is that after a long period of non-use, the receiver powers on and all functions seem to behave normally, but after a couple of minutes, it powers itself off.

            If I attempt...
