    Hanns-G HG281D

I am experiencing a problem with my Hanns-g Monitor and before I delve into opening it I would like to know what i should be looking for other than bulging caps.

Basically The monitors backight turns onand off it appears as I cant see nothing. Everything else works fine however i do notice that it flickers alot depending on what screen Resoloution its set at, the lower the less flicker the higher the more flicker sometimes its stable for ages then flickers and gets worse

At present its flickering quite a bit and going from 1920x1200 to 800x600 causes it to stay on and not flicker

What can i do about this! or look for

    Is it a power issue

Please repost the question on Computer Display forum, you will also find tons of threads of this model.
That symtom is due to bad caps in the main board. Bad cap can look normal but can have high ESR. You should also replace all the caps in the power supply anyway.
See the pictures of the two caps here:

I had the same symptoms on a samsung monitor it was just bad caps.

Higher res takes more power. so you are probably hitting the stability wall with the bad caps at native res.

Good luck, Hope it is a simple fix.

Was this with the same model? was it the smaller of the caps you replaced or just ALL of them for the power supply

Samsung flicker - BN44-00932T board or else?
          by fixit007
I picked up this TV that the prior owner said - just died.

Tested the fuse - burnt. A dead capacitor is visible too on the hot side (CP801). Got the replacement power board (cheaply - used). Replaced the board - the TV turned ON!

Now, about a month later (yesterday) I noticed the left side of the screen was flickering from time to time. That was already happening with the antenna input, not through HDMI.

Also, some glitchiness with a Fire stick on HDMI3 - I hit an app with quick dark screen in stick, the TV goes - no input. Then I had to choose the stick...

HANNSG Hi221 -- 2 secs to black feat. CCFL flicker & "burn" marks on power board
          by ttmi100x
          Greetings everyone,

I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...

The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.

          Upon closer inspection...

          UN65TU7000 strobing / flicker
          by howardc64
Good picture but has ~200Hz+ faint flicker/strobing over entire screen. Also has a single green vertical line. Can mask out t-con signals (2pins) to stop flicker/strobing but 1/12 of screen will be all colorful vertical lines (single green vertical line is in this section)

Since can mask t-con signal to disable part of the screen and stop flicker/strobing. Obviously not backlight.

Panel has 4x driver boards each responsible for 1/4 of the screen. 3 tabs on each board. Each tab responsible for 1/12 of the screen. the 2 outer most tabs has additional horizontal gate control...

LG 23MP55HQ LED Monitor turns off after a few seconds or flickers.
          by Rick_1234
          Good evening, gentlemen.

I have a problem with my monitor. It turns off after a few seconds or flickers. Shining a flashlight on the screen doesn't show any image, so I guess it's not the "2 seconds to dark" I read in the forum.

To turn it back on, I have to press the power button twice. Then after a few seconds it turns off again or flickers. See video.

Philips 46PFL8007K/12 - Picuture flickers on half of the screen
          by Capacitorial
          Hello guys.

I recently got a TV that has the following problems:
          1. Sometimes it has to be turned on and off a few times, to boot up. Sometimes it starts from the first try
          2. When it is running normally, the right side of the screen flickers. Sometimes it is just a square of transparent white maybe a 1/3 of the right half (top right)
          3. The flicker is also sometimes a square that is filled with lines
          4. I noticed that when the TV brightness is set to max, it flickers less. I think the Standard setting is the worst where it comes more frequent
          5. When it runs a few minutes it gets better,
