Hello all,
i just registered to this forum, as i got hold of a malfunctioning plasma TV. Now i would want to try to fix it - if at all possibe - and learn at least something in the process doing so.
Model: PS50A410C1
Symptoms:
Vertical bar 1/16 of whole width just to the right of the center. Additionally two coloured lines (width appr. 2-3 pixels running from top to the bottom in this bar). These change colours, depending on the content the not malfunctioning part of the screen is displaying. The right line is like a stream of different coloured "ants" running from top to bottom. On top of that there is a thin greenish line between them, barely visible and only situated in the lower part of the black bar.
Screenshots: I will add them when i come back home from studying. Sry for not loading any up right now.
Already "completed" tasks:
Opened the set. removed the aluminium alloy heatsink plate above the F- and E-buffer boards. Found there, that, differing from the service manual, the ribbon cables are heat soldered onto the bufferboard (i was hoping it was only a loose connection). Did not reconnect any connectors beside the module where the inputs are situated in. The solder points on the f-buffer looked ok so far with my bare eye.
As far as i have read, if an IC or resistor on the ribbon cable (COR) is burnt, there is most likely only one part of the corresponding area of the ribbon cable affected.
Optional equipment:
As i am studying electrical engineering at university, we have a students lab, which has loads of equiment to play with (sadly they do not teach us how to repair plasma sets...
). I should be able to power it on in there quite safely, in order to check for bad soldering points or problematic ribbon cables.
If you might think that trying to repair it could be worth it, i would give it a try and was hoping for your expertise.
PS: I am no native speaker, but am trying to give my best. Hope it is sufficient.
Cheers all and thx in advance
