    Samsung LE40M87BDX - 15 Minuets To Standby

    Hi all,

T.V turns on o.k and continues to run for approx,. 15 minuets and then clicks off to standby. I've timed this procedure 6 times now and every time almost to the 15th minuet it clicks off to standby. Pressing the front on/off switch will turn the t.v on again but after 15 minuets, same thing happens.

The only components I've replaced are three 47uF 50V caps which were giving me very weird readings when on the board, CM851, CM854 and CM881 (next to CN801)

The power board in this t.v came from another identical Samsung LE40M87BDX and it did the same thing in that one.

It's not something silly like the sleep timer is it? Try a factory reset.

If the PSU board carries the fault, try tapping the heatsinks - common problem with Sammys is cold joints on the power transistors, can cause the TV to shut down.

Re: Samsung LE40M87BDX - 15 Minuets To Standby

As you will see from the photo, I've entered the service menu o.k. Should anything happen when I highlight 12# and press on the remote?

All that appears to happen is, the TV button on the remote will flash and the service menu stays on the screen?

Just tried the t.v again and still the same!

Since the problem travels with the PSU, I would guess the PSU is at fault...

Yes, I'm pretty sure of that to. I've done a reset, made sure the sleep timer was off and then set the sleep timer to 30 minuets to see what would happen but still turned off after 15 minuets, very strange!

Check the cold joints as I recommended, on the bottom of the PSU.

                Hi there

Did you ever resolve this issue?

I replaced the capacitors and it seemed to fix the problem because the TV worked for 24 hours, but then it started switching off and on again pretty much every 15 minutes. I decided to then replace the enter PSU board (assuming something on that was causing the caps to blow in the first place) and this time it worked for much longer - about a week BUT low and behold the issue has come back AGAIN! I'm pretty much at a loss now - any ideas would be much appreciated as I really like the TV and don't really want to have to buy a new one!

                Thanks.

Well it seems the powersupply is still the culprit.
I would first check for those cold solder joints tom was talking about.
If it is doing an even interval, you could try heating/cooling to see if it speeds/slows the problem.

Look for cold solder joints elsewhere, like, where the cable that connects the mainboard to the PSU.

I think all that reset does is reset the panel time. Notice how it shows only 5 hours now.

I did this once on a Samsung plasma and that's all it did as far as I could tell.

                        Have you solved that problem?
I have the same problem, already bought a new psu but the problem came again after a week or so.
                        Best regards.

Is your problem it switches off after 15 minutes?

Try heating gently with a hairdryer to see if heat makes it switch off quicker.

Try extra cooling to see if it stays on longer.

Zombie Samsung UN55NU6900F dead / no standby voltage - randomly came to life after hours of troubleshooting then died
                              by tvguy12012012120
This is my first attempt at troubleshooting a board like this, I know I could just buy a new board but I'm curious to figure out how this works. I've been testing different components in the evenings this week and I think the problem is with the IC failing to start up for some reason. When the board is plugged in there is no standby voltage.

Then today it randomly sprung to life like a zombie but shortly died thereafter. I have no idea why it would have done that and its the first time I've seen it running. I discharged capacitors on the board last night, then it was sitting today....

                              Hello everyone,
I got a Samsung The Frame 55 inch TV for free from uncle cause it is not turning on anymore. I am in the second year of training as an electrician so I have knowledge already but I am far away from to be a pro.
The TV has Standby but ist not turning on. A Friend of mine owns a 50 inch Frame TV so I checked the One Connect Box and the One Connect Cable there. Both are good and working normally. I have opened the TV case and measured some voltages on the Board.
What I already found is that the 12.8V are not an the connector to the main board connector to the power...

I got the tv in spring 2024. At that time it started, then ran 60 sec and poweroff. Seemed like reboot issue. I didn't have time and room to check it in summer so I plugged it in and now the standby light is on. I press button on remote, standby light goes off and tries to start?. No picture or backlight on LCD. I thought about removing diodes like in this thread: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...sung-qled-q60r...
