LG 50px5d and others Buffer boards. 6871qdh089a, 6871qdh088a

LG 50px5d and others Buffer boards. 6871qdh089a, 6871qdh088a. I have a good pair but 2 of the locking tabs are broken, one missing, the other damaged.

From what I can tell they are 40 way.

Anyone been in this predicament and know how I could salvage the locking tabs from something else or get replacements?
Can't seem to find any bad boards for sale either.

Thanks for the effort. Yes it is most annoying. i picked this up and managed to get another working using this ones ysus and zsus. Did not know about this until I powered it up to find the picture did not match what I saw when advertised. Not my doing and I'd say they broke the tabs and called it quits.

The buffers are fine and it's the only thing is making me think twice about fixing it. It needs an IPM but to shell outfor the buffer makes it such a waste of a good board otherwise.

I guess it's not normal for someone to sell a bad buffer, who would want one except in this situation.

I think at one stage I had a bad board and tossed it because I thought it was silly hanging onto junk.

Typical whenever you throw something you end up needing it.

Have used SJ and pretty good service but with a minimum postage of $60 to Aust on top makes it silly to buy. They actually get the parts here within the week but I guess that's why it costs.

Occasionally you can find bad buffers on ebay, some people will by them to replace the ICs on them. Buuuut, you just have to keep your eye out and since they don't sell very often, market is scarce still.

Did find a $20 one for the LG 50PC3D but I dont know how much shipping is.

Maybe you could hold them down with tape or glue.

I was hoping if anybody had some boards laying around it would be you. you seem to do a lot.

Anyway , one is broken, the other is completely missing. Not sure if you're serious or not but really would not expect glue or tape to work. i don't think I could bring myself to even try it.

I certainly could not do that and hold my hand on my heart and sell it.

I keep very few parts, any TVs I cannot fix I usually sell at a loss to other TV techs.

It is better than throwing it out to make a TV work again, as long as you make it a reversible repair and one which will last.

I think glue would work but if the buffers ever need replacing well ........ sucks for the next guy :P haha

Of course I have seen one manufacturer heat seal (it seemed) the ribbon cables to the buffers.....they must have had a lot of confidence in their ICs or no damage from the Y-SUS

how would you be sure of getting positive pressure on the ribbon for good contact. The tab clamps it in place to make good contact.

Why not get a piece of plastic or popsicle stick to put over the ribbon cable in the connector then glue the two ends of the stick down? Theoretically that should like the connector did.

Well you won't believe this but I managed to get 1 of the clips in and latch.
Out of desparation I could not help but think the missing one may have fallen off inside the set.
So I figured if so it would be in he chassis or maybe landed inside on the back cover.

So retraced my steps and looked around on the floor around the set because if it was on the cover it would have landed because at that stage I was unaware of the broken clip.

And there it was, must have walked over it a thosand times. How lucky but the clip is broken so to is the body.

I figured maybe it would still clamp on the ribbon and it did. Of course it will fall out as soon as it is unclamped.

Maybe that glue idea will work after all. I'm thinking maybe some strong silicone over it would work and this would allow it to be removed by someone down the track if needed. it will a nice surprise for someone.

Run the TV up and it has connected good enough, pictures good, no lines.

                          hehe. nice one.

what i've used in the past is, if you have some old flex cables around, there's always some blue rigid part that helps you slide the connector in ? well you cut a part of it of the good size, and slide it on the proper side (not the side with the contacts

This way it'll be harder to slide the flex in, and it's gonna make good contact.. adds pressure to the connection. used that a few times in laptops, always worked good !

Hi guys, have got both the 6871QDH088/089, with a total of 6 locking flaps still on it, boards are not working and mosfets have been removed to fix other boards. They are available for free if anybody pays postage.

Throw some info on this subject. If u have a broke tab - its not the end of the world. usually they break by the end snapping off. insert ribbon cable and then use (brown) tab manually. That is - insert broken tab on top of ribbon cable and then gently push down carefully. It does apply pressure but it applies it uniformly by the tab going under the board connector and applying pressure to the ribbon cable. After manually using broken tab - I usually put heat glue over top of connection. Has worked every time for me. Obviously if the tab breaks in half or in many pieces - you'll have to find another tab from a dead board. Or just buy another on EBAY.

guess what, I worked that out in the end, it's funny what you discover out of desparation. I ended up running a bead of selleys all-clear to secure it.

Worked a treat and glad to be rid of it. Did keep me occupied for a while.

Use some of that heat sink pad and cut it to size, and hold it down with 2 or three wide rubber bands. Has worked for me. Good Luck

Quick question, anybody have the two ribbon cables that connect the upper buffer board to the Ysus and between the two buffer boards?

I've misplaced mine and I need them to finish repairs.

How much, if you have them?

                                        Thanks.
