I have a Vizio 42" TV, P/N VW42L HDTV10A that recently has had 2 of the 3 HDMI inputs stop working entirely and permanently. Both times this has occurred has been after my apartment has lost power during a storm. The TV and DVR box that was plugged into the HDMI port at the time are both run through a surge protector. Because of this, when the first HDMI port stopped working I just assumed it had just randomly stopped working, so I switched the DVR box to a different HDMI port on the tv. Now, after a storm and loss of power this week, the new port has also ceased to work. I would suspect that somehow the DVR box still managed to send some sort of spike through the HDMI cable into the tv when the power failed. I have since ordered a new DVR box, but would now like to fix the two broken HDMI inputs on my tv. Can anyone point me in a direction to fix the main board, or should I just be looking to replace the board? I would obviously prefer to fix it if it is cheaper to do this. By the way, the inputs that stopped working are P7 and P9 (HDMI 1 and 3 on the tv). And I have inspected the main board for visual defects of the components that are located near the HDMI input connectors and have found nothing obvious.
Oh, and I work at an engineering company so if the repair is not something I can handle I do have access to fully qualified people to perform the repair. If I had access to a circuit diagram for the board I would have already fixed it or decided on replacing it.
