    vizio vf55 power surge

I have a Vizio VF550XVT1A - Had a pretty good lighting storm today TV was on and power cycled very quickly, "VIZIO" flickers continually, unplugged for 10 min. no help. everything i have read online says the main board needs to be replaced - main board 3655-0012-0150(2B)

I am good with a soldering iron but only have multi-meter. I am willing to replace the board but would like to be certain it is the problem. 5V to main board is good.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, don't mind smart asses...

        Re: vizio vf55 power surge

first steps would be to check fuses, output voltages on the psu, large cap should be around 3-4 x your line voltage,if no output voltages present, check bridge, transient diodes (if any),varistor,if these check good, and psu voltages are good, then most likely ,a spike has fried the cpu on the main board
fixed so far...376 lg lcd tv's,24 onn tv;s,24 panasonic lcd,16 jvc lcd,12 marshall jcm800 amps, refurb of various disco equipment lighting, old style disco decks ,and a flymo!

        ----------------------------------------------
please let us know if everything works ok if your tv gets fixed, as it will be and aid for anyone else having the same problem and wishing to fix it.it would save people clogging up this site with topics that are duplicated, and can be found easily using the search function.,and taking up valuable space.enjoy your fixed tv!,hopefully!

There are two fuses near the power connector. With the metal caps on the end. Check if they are okay.

What's the voltage on each end of the fuse, with the black probe grounded to the case of the TV?

So you have your problem here, 5V standby is up (hence Vizio logo working), but 12V is dead. Probably 24V too. Is there a pin marked PSON on power supply?

should the 12 and 24v be on to the main board with plugged in power off?? pressing power switch does nothing.

                                          Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                          Assuming...

Issue: No Power, Then Rebooting After Main Board Change

Short answer: replace main board and power board
Technical answer: replace main board and Q306 & Q307 on power board.

                                          Long answer:

TV wouldn't turn on. Power switch was fine which means the main board isn't processing the power on signal. Replaced main board. TV turns on now but randomly reboots. Bad main board? EEPROM? Tried to pull main board and got a shock touching the corner of the board. That's weird. C334 (450V 10uf) capacitor is still holding a high charge....
