Samsung LE40A656 - Power LED blinking

Got this TV for £40. I've already repaired the same model but with a different fault - it had a T-con issue.

Fault: Power LED blinks intermittently. No sign of powering up.

Anyway upon opening it, the problem was very apparent. It has at least three bad caps.

I will replace them all - and consider keeping this TV for ourselves and replacing our old 42" 720p (dumpster find too. ) This is 40" (so a tiny bit smaller) but 1080p and with 100Hz motion interpolation, 4 HDMI and USB.

Heating the caps with the hair dryer for 3 minutes made the TV power up with a perfect picture.

Would you believe what Currys (crappy electronics retailer in the UK) said it was? A starter motor!!!! I kid you not!!

Video will be up soon on diagnosis.

those inverter transformers look like, LIF42-001 SC-03B's ?,very simular to the power supply used in lg lcd tv's, EAX55357701 ?.dont like the way the ccfls are wired as a block with those transformers.

makes it hard to troubleshoot 2 secs to black(swapping individual ccfls).
fixed so far...376 lg lcd tv's,24 onn tv;s,24 panasonic lcd,16 jvc lcd,12 marshall jcm800 amps, refurb of various disco equipment lighting, old style disco decks ,and a flymo!

I'm not sure whether or not I prefer 24V or mains-primary inverters. I've repaired all 24V inverters thus far; but only the occasional Samsung or LG uses them, so it's comparatively rare.

BTW, have a 32" LCD and 42" plasma to pick up Wednesday - both Samsungs . I think the 32" has the same fault as this 40", bad caps. The plasma may just be solder joints.

You Brits have all the luck these days. What with all those glorious women's beach volleyball and women's gymnastics bodies and a 1080p set to watch it on. Not to downplay the good buy on the tv. But, you have to have priorities.
Have you ever stopped to think and then forget to start thinking again?

If you look in the right places, you can find plenty of nice TVs to fix. You just have to know what to buy.

Sometimes the alternator goes too, and that can cause problems with the charging system.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                      Assuming...

                                      Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                                      Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

                                      Hi

Picked up another TV. Samsung UN43NU6950FXZA. No power and no standBy led on. Removed back cover and:
                                      Main fuse = OK
Back light LED = OK. Power them with aux power source
                                      LED output = OK 156V
I do get 12 V DC out of the power supply going to the digital section but no 5V or 3.3V. PS_on voltage is only 1.8V. I have looked everywhere on the PCB , I could not find i reference for 5V output.
Also removed connections to panel, speakers and remote but no luck. One strange thing is that even with the LED power supply working, backlight LED do not turn on...

Hi everyone and thanks in advance for any help I might get here

My Samsung TV is about 4 years old. The exact model number is UE75MU7009TXZG.
About half a year ago I started seeing occasional green frames pop up while watching movies. I mean literally green frames. Not the image turning green, but the entire screen turning green for a split second. This happened maybe once or twice during a 2 hour movie. So no big deal, but clearly something was not quite right.

Since a few days, the TV won't turn...
