Dynex dx-22ld150a11 with 2 seconds to black.

Dynex dx-22ld150a11 with 2 seconds to black.

The flashlight test on the screen allows me to see faint images and the sound and DVD player are working.

From other posts, I suspect the issue with primary or secondary transformers, but I'll refer this to the experts.

    Primary
    1-3 0.0 ohm
    1-5 0.L
    1-6 0.L
    1-7 0.L
    1-8 0.L
    1-9 0.L
    1-10 0.L
    1-12 0.L

    Secondary
    1-2 .986 ohm
    1-3 0.L
    1-4 0.L
    1-5 0.L
    1-6 0.L
    1-7 0.L
    1-8 0.L
    1-9 0.L
    1-10 0.L

Many thanks to all that reply in this forum. I was able to rescue a friend's Vizio just by reading the posts.

There are two secondary windings on the inverter transformer T302, pin 1-2, and 3-4

      T302
      3-4 17.79-18.03

I measured this several times and the results varied each time.

      Thank you.

        See

        http://www.lcdparts.net/TransformerD...ProductID=4010

for the pinouts. We want the resistance between S1-S2 and S3-S4. The two reading should be around 960 ohms.

Your meter is good with good batteries, I expect 3&4 to be in the same ballpark as 1&2.

Fresh batteries in the meter. Those were some old batteries.

            Here are the new readings

            1-2 .983
            3-4 17.96

Not much of a change. I can try another MM if there is some doubt about it. Would removing it from the board help at this point?

The problem, we, the regulars, are having with the above is that there are no units and we can't see what you are doing.

Is that 17.96 ohms, kohms, Mohms?

If it is the latter two, that transformer is bad. If it is 17.96 ohms, then something weird is going on.

                Good point retiredcaps.

As you can see pin 1 & 2 are connected to two connectors of the lamps, same setup is applied to pin 3 & 4 as well, so it looks like the winding on pin 3 & 4 is bad. To be sure, you may want to remove the transformer and inspect it more closely. So far I cannot find the pin out for this transformer yet.

Sorry, that would be my ignorance for not putting in the units of the readings.

                  1-2 .983 kohms
                  3-4 17.96 kohms

So it appears the transformer is at fault. I'll remove the board for a visual inspection tomorrow night. Is the link I have below a suitable replacement?

I went with Lcdparts for the part. After all a cheap part most likely caused the problem in the first place.

You can see from the picture we know have a functional TV that my boys are using as a computer monitor.

I think budm buys from them a lot. I use them as a reference for people so they can see where the secondary pins are.

Simple? PlainBill, jetadm123, alexanna and I did a lot of work to narrow down the possibilities of 2 seconds to black which eventually I put into the guide.

It took me a long long time to understand how these things work.

After you solve a "hands on" one, yes it is simple.

@ceconomon BTW, thanks for the personalized thank you. It is the 3rd one where someone posted a picture of them using their repaired monitor.

It is simple because it is just the transformer, not a bunch of surface mounted components that had to be replaced, or worst if he have to replace the lamps.

So I've had this monitor for probably a decade now, and it's finally starting to fail. Began with a little sporadic flickering, then eventually started going black (power LED stays blue, can still see image on screen with flashlight). A power on/off fixes it for a bit, but then it happens again. Once it got to the point I was dealing with this every few minutes, I opened it up and just replaced all the caps (minus the big one) on the power board with new Panasonic ones. All the old caps tested fine on an ESR meter, and this worked for 5 days. But the screen just went black again today, so...

LG 37LG5020 and the tale of 2 seconds to black.
                                by DrankinSAW
I bought an LG 37LG5020 with a very strange issue.. it turns on, the display looks fine, but still, after 2 seconds, the TV shuts the backlight off..

However, if i leave it plugged in for 20-40min.. the time it takes to shutdown the backlight, doubles (to 4 seconds)..

I bought a new inverter, set to arrive on December 13th
