Bud this is one of the threads that I found on this model. Can't tell what actually fixed this problem. Resoldering or a new EEProm.

How do you get these titles to link up with the thread?

Yes this is the Thread. I thought we might have a fight between Miguel and Richpart. We could have sold pay per view and made some money. Miguel is selling the EEProm Programed on Ebay for $25.00 which includes shipping. Since I can't find any other solutions, think I will invest and try this and see if it is the solution. I am also going to check very closely for bad solder around the Video Chip and the regulators, just in case. I will let you know what happens when I get the EEProm and install it.

By the way I read your article and it is pretty much what I had gathered from reading all the post's on this problem. You did a good job explaining the process that goes on inside these LCD TV's.

I add the comment on that post about putting details instruction on how to do it, it looks like it is going to be common problem with these newer VIZIO.
I wonder if the IC is bad and it just need to be reprogrammed, and it looks like they are keeping secret on how to actually doing the programming and where to get the firmware from.
If I know how I would have put out free instruction in details, it will help out a lot of people here.

I agree, if the chip is failing then Vizio should replace them. I don't fault Miguel for making money since he had to not only buy the programer, but buy chips and program them. The MX EEProm chips are available on Ebay for $3.99 I believe the price was and the programer's are also available on Ebay. Of course you would have to either have a good chip to clone or know where to get the firmware. I can't believe Vizio cares enough to allow the public access to the firmware, but they should.

If anyone has the hex file, I'm quite willing to program some EEPROMs (SMD or DIP) for the cost of the chip and postage. I have my own home made EEPROM programmer here based on a PICkit 2.

This is a link on supposedly how to get the firmware for your model of Vizio TV. However, when I tried to find my model E321VL it was not listed and they did not show any firmware etc.

New here just poking around the forums and read this thread and was checking out the pics posted. Might have already been mentioned and addressed or dismissed, but I noticed something that looks a bit suspicious to me and thought I'd point it out just in case. The foil trace at one end of what looks to be C613 seems kindof odd to me (see pic).

Yes Jeetyet I agree - I have asked for traces to be checked several times there appear to be lots of problem areas and have been assured they are ok. OP has not provided any better pics so I have given up on this thread.

I have attached several sets of pictures of these boards. I will check the trace he is talking about, but I am pretty sure that it is not the problem. That C613 is one of the Electrolytics that I replaced and what is showing up is rosin from the solder. It is just sort of shiny. The trace is fine. I am waiting on a MX25L6406E for the Main Board which is the EEProm that, at least in some cases, has been found to solve this Orange Light No Power problem. It should show up today according to tracking and I will try to get it installed today or tomorrow and will report back whether it is a success or not. Budm and I sort of mutually agreed back in Post #102 that this might be the problem.

I do appreciate all the help. So don't give up on me yet.

Well I got the MX EEProm chip today and installed it. There is no change on the TV. Everything is as it was before I changed the chip. Orange light does not change when power button pushed. I am still getting the same voltages on the power board. The connector to the Main Board has 5.24V on the first 3 pins but nothing else registers. I am not getting any voltage on one of the SMD Fuses on the Main Board, but it registers 0.1 ohms which makes me think it is ok. The other fuse has 5.24V across it. I am kind of at a loss as to where to go next. There must be something on the Main Board. I believe the Power Board to be functioning since I am getting the 5.24V on the first 3 pins. Have you had any revelations?

Yes according to Miguel Garcia who owns ITVRepair in Dallas. He bought a programer and cloned the chip from a known good chip.

He has offered to let me ship my Power and Main Board to him and he will go through them and give me a price to repair them. I am contemplating this. My only problem is this is a free tv and I am not sure I want to spend a couple hundred bucks to fix it. I may poke around for the next few days and see if anything else turns up on the boards, before I consider sending the boards to him.

Make sure the chip polarity is correct. There is a small recessed dot on the corner of the chip. It should correspond to the dot showing on the circuit board drawing where the chip is installed. Also be careful of static charges when handling the chip.

Thanks to JHOFFMAN, here is the BIN file for Vizio E371E. I suspect it will be the same for the E321VL version.

                                          http://www.tgohome.com/ServiceManual...20BIN%20files/

Given its 8MB size, it is likely a FLASH chip, not an EEPROM. I am not sure if I can program these, I will need to check.
