    samsung LN40A530P1F screeching

my parents called me and told me there Samsung TV was screeching at them.
    they say it is intermittent.

Googled it and found a few sites claiming it is a problem with capacitors on the power board.

will be going there tomorrow or Tuesday to take it apart and get some pics up but thought I would see if any one has had experience with this already.

    any help appreciated

    thanks

A lot of people here have a lot of experiences with products with bad caps, when voltages are not stable, a lot of bad symptom can appear.
So the first thing you will need to do is to inspect the boards for bad caps, burnt parts, loose connections. Post good clear pictures using advanced/upload so we can see what you have in your TV.

OK i finally got the pics.

The pics are of the power board and everything looks good there there dosent seem to be and bloated or blown capacitors although i did not test any of them with the multimeter yet.

Hi - pictures are not really clear enough for troubleshooting but have had a quick look and cant see anything that outstands as bad. If you can get better pictures do so and also of the other boards.
Really what we need is for you to narrow down the screeching - perhaps you did? If not put it all together and get a rolled up tube of card and use that to
pin point where the sound is coming from.
In spite of the screech is there a picture or audio if you provide a source

While I was there I did no hear any screeching from the television.
The pic of the screen is all it was doing before and after i got it apart.
and also the television does not do this once it is warmed up

Also I went over the back of the board with a magnifying glass and there are no jumped fuses and no indications of melting solder or anything like that.

Did it have a valid source connected

Do you mean when it has warmed up it works ok with sound and vision

IF that is the case then you need to let it cool so it doesnt work then switch it on with a valid source and with a hair drier heat one board at a time to try and shorten the time it takes to come on. When you have found heating which board helps then try and narrow it down to a section.
It could then be a faulty cap or cold joint.
Also make sure ALL cables are connected - disconnect and reconnect all you can

OK there was not a valid source hooked up.
i will see if they can do the heating up on there own and hopefully get some input from them.

                thank you for your suggestion.

OK - just so we know - is the set at your parents' place and if you dont get there every day there could be a couple of days delay between responses? Its not a problem just so as we know what to expect.

Went to my parents on saturday and the said their television had not had a problem for two days.

I'm hoping the problem worked it self out but knowing electronics i doubt it
