Is it a Vestel, 17PWxx power supply? It is a common problem with Vestel TVs.

If possible, post a bigger picture - this website supports up to 2000x2000.

Also, is the heatsink (metal plate) removable, so you can check underneath it?

I guess it will look like this underneath the top plate so not going to be easy to work on..:http://obrazki.elektroda.pl/3014491300_1319657852.jpg.

Can you post a picture of the bottom of the board as well as the top inside of yours?

When you say you checked the caps is that with an ESR meter

the underneath the heatsink is right took out the one with the 5 transistors on it too check the caps check with an capicator tester I have notice that when the tv turns off 10-15 min the caps are warm

Warm caps are generally a sign of increasing ESR, but not always.

What you can try to do is get out a hairdryer and start heating parts of the TV until it cuts out. If it cuts out when you heat an area, turn it off, let it cool down and heat that area up immediately after power up and see if it cuts out immediately.

This will locate the thermally sensitive part(s).

Hi - The pictures are not good enough- we need to be able to read the
board designations and look for faults- they should look like this:

sorry again about picture. will have to get better unit to take them.anyway sort the problem out yesterday it was c56 a 2200uf 10volts cap. I had tv on for about 4 hours soak test no problems what so ever.would like to get a schematic of the power supply just for referance in case anything goes wrong.will send you picture off the power supply in near future.

                            by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                            Assuming...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                            by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply
                            by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

Definitive technology SC 2000 subwoofer amp's power supply clicking and popping
                            by JimBanville
The sub developed a constant popping every couple seconds from woofer and power LED flickering with nothing but wall AC connected. Connecting an audio cable didn't change anything. It doesn't play but a second or two of audio in between the pops.
Opened it up and discovered the power supply is making a faint clicking or ticking sound.
I measured the amp's output to the woofer and it pulses up to 50mv DC to be driver. The pulses coincide with the power supply ticking/clicking.
I measured the power supply output going to the amp board and it too has this pulsing. Voltage cycles...

                            by jinu_j
                            Hi

I am trying to repair an ancient Dell 2209WA Monitor which suddenly shut off with a pop sound. On investigation found that one of the fusible resistors had blown. Further investigation identified multiple components as faulty because of which the fusible resistor blew. Please refer the attached circuit diagram showing the components that were found to be damaged.

                            1. FR950 - blown fusible resistor - 0.2 Ohm 1W
                            2. Q950 - shorted Q950 MOSFET - 650V 10A N Channel Mosfet
                            3. R835 - Blown Resistor - 20KOhm SMD resistor
