Re: pioneer plasma PDP-435PE
Looks like tipex..when probing diodes etc on this tv psu there is 2 diodes D24&D26 which both measure .032 with a continues beep on diode check function..will i need to pull a leg to retest as all the other diodes measure a reading & OL..thxLeave a comment:

What's up with that 4 pin black chip with a mark on it, top right of picture? It looks like an optocoupler but the marking on it looks like damage.Leave a comment:

Re: pioneer plasma PDP-435PE
If the signal cable is unplugged the tv should have an orange light and it may flash.
The media boxes with these held up very well and I would suspect the small round signal cable first before taking anything apart.
look for bent pins. also this cable has the audio signals as well.
I have the 50hdt50m version of this tv made by pioneer for Hitachi (2003) with the updated power supply. I would not trade it for anything!
Find out if the tv power supply is an axy-1059. The updated version is an axx-1064 and will be tagged on the aluminum back of the power supply.
Your tv may vary slightly from mine pending the year. There were a few different models that used the media boxes.Last edited by sienoki; 03-18-2012, 07:31 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: pioneer plasma PDP-435PE
What is the trap switch? I would think it is actually illegal in many cases for a manufacturer to disable a product if the case is opened unless there is a justified reason e.g. a credit card terminal (anti-tamper), medical device... At the very least, it doesn't make sense: why would they produce a service manual then?!Leave a comment:

Hi tom..no harddrive or flash memory fella..will leave the set till cable arrives..have you ever come across this trap switch before?..all info on tinternet applies to remote sequence tried this & no good..1 tv tech said solid red & green & MR in some shut down mode??anyways thx 4 info so far muckaLeave a comment:

Re: pioneer plasma PDP-435PE
Not necessarily... There are three signals there and at least two are important. One is PD Trigger, the other is AC Detect. PD Trigger makes me thing of a signal that fires when the power supply is about to power down. (Does the box have a HDD or flash memory?) AC Detect performs a similar function.
I would wait for the DVI cable and then if you get a good display I think you can rule out the media box.Leave a comment:

Re: pioneer plasma PDP-435PE
Without the ac detect & the standby voltages the other voltages needed wouldnt be present..so because all the voltages are correct on the main pin out im presuming the psu is in working order & the fault maybe lies elswhere in the mr box..am i correct in assuming this?..thx

by RatherLoopyI have an older Pioneer receiver (VSX-44) that's been dropping the HDMI output (black screen) for a few seconds every few minutes. Setup is HTPC -> Pioneer DVD HCMI in -> Pioneer HDMI out -> Samsung TV HDMI in, all with cheap HDMI cables that have never caused trouble before..
I initially found a lot of play in the receiver's HDMI inputs and output so I kind of squeezed them back into shape and they're making a tighter connection, but the problem persists.
And also, often, the HDMI will drop out in exactly the same way (black screen) just as my central air...-

by pixelcapHello out there in Badcap land.
I have a Pioneer plasma that gave me the dreaded 8 red blink and shutdown, I have been trying to trace the failure points. On my last inspection while replacing a Y Sustain Board I noticed on the original and replacement board some missing solder, the points of connection
are from the Digital Address Board and the Buffer Boards. I have included the pictures, should I resolder these points or are they unsoldered intentionally? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you

by pulper111Hello. My receiver "seems" to be working fine. It functions as it should. the receiver is the Pioneer vsx-1123. However, while doing some work in the house, I noticed that my HDMI cable from the receiver was registering as "hot" using my fluke non-contact voltage tester.
I've done some troubleshooting to try to narrow down the problem, and all wires (speaker/hdmi/subwoofer) coming from the receiver, whether it's powered on or stand-by, register as "hot". none of my other receivers are experiencing this issue, so it doesn't seem to be an issue with...-

Have a colleagues Pioneer VSX-3300, it wont power on, hasnt for a number of years, but just now trying to figure out what's going on with it.
It has 120V input and I have followed that 120V to a small board that appears to have a small transformer and a relay among a few other components I dont think the relay is changing state which I believe turns on the receiver, but this is all speculation.....
I have downloaded the repair guide, which I have attached to this post, but I am having a hard time following it.... Can someone please offer any advice on what to check?...-
