Well, I had so much trouble finding the right p/n for the MOSFETs I forgot all about the cap. I will have it added to the order Monday. Thanks for reminding me!

The markings on the cap are "A/ R76 MKP" ".022 630" "U0 06MJE46" I'm guessing this is the correct one? http://search.digikey.com/us/en/prod...922-ND/2571356

EDIT: I did test the cap in the circuit. I get 22.33 nf

        Perfect!

        Even matches the color... lol!

Not sure if you saw my edit, we posted at almost the same time. The cap in circuit tests out at 22.33nf which would be .022uf I'm guessing it might be OK.

You're going to chance $12 in MOSFETs against a 50¢ cap????

Good point. I'll order the cap.

Got my order from Digi-Key today. I somehow managed to order the wrong cap. Being the impatient person that I am (not good to be impatient, I know.) I took the cap out and tested it with my multi-meter. It sill showed good so I stuck it back in along with the 2 new MOSFETs and the new resistor. I held my breath as I hit the button on the power strip and... nothing... a good nothing. I was half expecting to hear pops and see flames. The back-light came on and the lcd powered up. Everything seems to be working! I'll know more after I get some new thermal compound for the MOSFETs and leave it on a little longer.

I'm still getting a strange rapid flashing of the power led on the front of the screen blue/yellow but it's been doing that for about 1 year before it went out so I think that's unrelated. It doesn't affect the performance of the TV but it's kind of weird. Just wondering if anyone has seen that on a Westinghouse TV before?

Anyway, thanks to EVERYONE for their help! Special thanks to budm for all the help testing the MOSFETs and the IC.

A multimeter may be able to read capacitance, but it will NOT measure ESR (equivalent series resistance). To measure ESR, you need a standalone ESR meter.

Also the failure mode of these metalised polyester film capacitors is for minute metal growths between layers, leading to shorts. However, these shorts may only become apparent when under the stress of a high voltage.

                    Glad you fixed your TV!

The blue/yellow flashing might be a software update, or a stray signal from another device that's being picked up by the IR?
