Got a bad Sharp LC-37HV4U from Freecycle. Lots of fuses and they all exhibited continuity. The capacitors are flat-topped and are Nichicons.
I got my hands on the service manual, which also services the LC-37HV6U. I got it from ElektroTanya. I tried following that branched decision tree, but I'm not exactly sure about which path to take.
I hit the Main Power button (which is bigger than the other Power button) and got a steady green LED. I then hit the other Power button and that same LED blinked red. I looked carefully at the blinking behavior and monitored the LED for a pause in the blinking. I didn't find a perceptible pause after that red LED blinked 20 times or so. Using the manual's terminology, I would guess my TV blinked once per cycle.
I didn't see any change in behavior with respect to the screen.
I'm going to peruse that service manual some more, but I'd love another pair of eyes to see what items I should examine (or replace).
Pictures enclosed. Manual's too big to host here, but I found it at:
Thanks for reading!
