    Cheapest/best cooling spray?

A friend of mine describes his LCD TV as: "fully functional however when you first turn it on, a black "cloud" of some sort comes over the screen. Sometimes even half the screen is blacked out. After the TV has been on for a bit the TV works great and has no issues. Its only when the TV has been off for a bit and is powered on."

    This is an LT-37X688.

So I found some freezing sprays that should help me find the
    problem:

I would guess I should try spraying around the main input board first.....

Depending where you are located. Here in the UK the best stuff on the market is Servisol and is found cheapest on eBay unless you have trade connections.

Ordinary canned air serves two purposes. When upright due to evaporation it blows dust away, the spray comes out normally a bit cooler than room temperature. However, when inverted, the spray comes out very cold and frozen because evaporation doesn't happen. Around -180°C. However, canned air is pricey!

The fault the OP suggests sounds a lot like T-con and it could be the LVDS connector is loose.
