Hello all, I hope your 2012 has started off better than mine. I fell ill with strep and my tv decided to go belly-up in the same day. Since I'm stuck at home anyway (still contagious for a while yet), repairing the tv has become a project.
Basically, it will function normally for a few seconds after being turned on, albeit with an odd noise. It sounds like a faint buzz and/or grind.
After that, the power led will change from green to amber, the screen goes blank, and the buzz stops. In it's stead, a high-pitched humming sound will occur. The humming will continue and increase in frequency until you can no longer hear it.
This seems to me like a power supply issue of some sort, but I'm not exactly sure where to start testing.
By my untrained eye, there does not appear to be any visible damage to the power supply circuitry.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
