    Samsung PS50B530S2WXXU...Sound, No Picture

Hi, Looking for help regarding this Samsung PS50B530 plasma, hopefully with the help of some expert knowledge and advise I might get this set up and running in time for xmas, that's if the panel isn't dead. If it is then hopefully I would've learnt something valuable in the process.

Basically I switched the tv on a few weeks ago and there was sound but no picture, I've replaced replaced Y-sus and buffer board together and also the X main. The white label on the back of the plasma panel lists the voltages as (actual in brackets) VS 209 (209)/VA 56 (57)/VSC -200 (-202)/VE 92 (84)

Could it possibly be a dead panel?? Any help or advice will be much appreciated.

    Thanks

The only remaining board is probably the control board. Are the LEDs lit on that board?

Ve is a little low, but shouldn't cause too many problems.

Often with a bad panel there is a loud buzzing sound emitted from the TV.

Hi Tom, There's only 1 LED flashing on the logic control board (LED2000) while the TV is on, on start up another LED flashes twice (LED2001) but then goes out, maybe this is normal, I know its a risk that it may not work but do you still think I should try another logic control board??

When I turn the TV on there is a what I believe to be a humming noise (like when a tv is on) from both the Y-sus and X-main but definitely not what I would call a loud buzzing noise. After 10 -20 mins Y-sus gets hot but not too hot to touch, X-main is not very warm, SMPS is not very warm either..Forgot to mention there's no OSD Menu and screen doesn't prime at all.

      Thanks

Try turning out the lights in the room - turn out ALL the lights. Then turn the TV on. Do you see a faint glow on the screen?

I've tried making the room dark by turning out all the lights, definitely no faint lights from the screen.

          Thanks

That doesn't sound good unfortunately. It still could be a Y sustain problem.

What happened when the TV failed?

              Re: Samsung PS50B530S2WXXU...Sound, No Picture

Not sure what happened exactly at the time as kids were watching tv, I came home later that night turned the TV on and I could only hear the sound, there was no picture at all. Removed the rear panel, switched the tv on and there was a faint ticking like noise coming from the Y-sustain, purchased another. Y-sustain and buffer board from a online company along with a X-main just in case I needed that as well, swapped the parts over and the only noticeable change was that the new Y-sustain was humming.

I really don't mind purchasing another Y-sustain from a different company especially if the panel is not dead but is there any other way of checking that the one I have is in fact good??

              Thanks

It sounds a lot like you got a failed Y sustain board.

The faint ticking is a sign of a shorted board = i.e. the board was definitely failed. Then again, usually a shorted board stops the TV from working completely. The new board buzzing could also be a sign of failure, but I'm not sure.

You would need an oscilloscope to test the board.

The problem with these new thin plasma TVs is that the panel is much more susceptible to cracking from thermal expansion.

Here is what I would do.

If you have a neon voltage tester for 120 to 480v (buy one they are cheap). Put your finger on one lead then touch the other lead on the upper buffer test point. You will not get shocked I am sure. With the tv on if you have the correct voltage to the buffers the neon light will glow.

I do this for a quick check of the y drive output voltage. It will either be there or it won`t.

I haven`t seen this type. I would also go over with good light all of your connections.

Double check your ribbon cable from the control board to the y drive. If it is not in right you will not have any picture.

Samsung TV model UE50TU: rebooting, backlight, sound, but no picture
                    by TR103
                    Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
                    - sound and backlight, but no picture
                    - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
                    - it keeps rebooting
                    - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
                    - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
                    - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

                    - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

SAMSUNG UN55KS9000F picture fades then distorts into vertical lines after 20 seconds
                    by JJAAMM
This was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.

                    Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode...

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
                    by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

                    Hello all,

This is my first post, but long term lurker on the form learning as much as possible about these TV's. I was given this TV as due to a power outage of constant On/off of power to TV. The TV originally would just click on and off (Typical Reboot Cycle). I opened the back of the TV, and troubleshooted by taking the 96 pin LVDS off one at a time to see if I had a picture on either side. I finally fixed the reboot cycle by finding the error on the left side of the screen off connector CN 1301, and the TV would stay on. Further troubleshooting led me to the driver boards where...
